USA Cancels "Shooter"
USA Renews Ryan Phillippe's "Shooter" for Season 2
by Natalie Abrams 12/19/16 Though it got off to a rocky start, "Shooter" has scored a season 2 renewal from USA Network, EW has learned. "Shooter" follows Ryan Phillippe’s Bob Lee Swagger, a former Marine who has come out of seclusion to stop an assassination attempt on the president. But when Swagger’s former commanding officer Isaac Johnson (Omar Epps) solicits his expertise in a clandestine operation, Swagger becomes entangled in a disastrous operation with ties to his past. The show, which has averaged 2.6 million total viewers, is based on the Stephen Hunter novel Point of Impact, as well as the 2007 Mark Wahlberg film. “John Hlavin and the team behind Shooter have delivered a compelling action thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience,” said Chris McCumber, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment president. “We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter.” The series, produced by Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions, is executive-produced by Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and showrunner John Hlavin (The Shield). Phillippe is also a producer on the project. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/12/19...e-usa-season-2 |

"Shooter" is Coming Back for Season 3, and It Will Be Bigger Than Ever
by Amanda Bell Dec 4, 2017 After the second season of USA's "Shooter" was cut short as a result of actor Ryan Philippe breaking his leg during a non-work-related incident with his family, the actor has since claimed to be officially cleared by his physician for all activity and the network has now decided to kick the series back into gear by greenlighting a third season that will be even longer than the previous two seasons. According to TV Line, Season 3 will run for 13 episodes, as opposed to the 10 from Season 1 and the abbreviated eight episodes shown from Season 2. The network has released a teaser for the forthcoming season, confirming that the expected launch date is sometime in 2018. Philippe also confirmed that they are currently in the pre-production stages of the show, with training and preparations being done in Utah and a prospective start date penciled for January, 2018. "We know a lot of you have been waiting for this news, and we're happy to be back!" Philippe wrote on Instagram. "We can't wait for you to see what's in store this season." http://www.tvguide.com/news/shooter-season-3-renewal/ |

"Shooter" Canceled by USA Network after 3 Seasons, Shopped by Paramount TV
by Nellie Andreeva August 15, 2018 USA Network has opted not to order a fourth season of thriller drama series "Shooter" starring Ryan Phillippe. The decision comes as "Shooter" has crossed the midpoint mark of its 13-episode Season 3 run. I hear leading producer Paramount Television is shopping the series to other networks. Sibling Paramount Network, recently relaunched as Viacom’s leading brand for original scripted series, is a logical destination and I hear that there have been conversations but they appear to have stalled. Following USA’s recent cancellation of "Colony", also after three seasons, "Shooter" is USA’s lowest-rated remaining drama series among adults 18-49. Season to date, "Shooter" averages 471,000 in 18-49 and 1.506 million total viewers in Live+3, down double-digits from Season 2 averages. https://deadline.com/2018/08/shooter...rk-1202445976/ |
