So, I've recently found out that about four episodes of the original Mission: Impossible's fifth season retained the old opening and closing title cues. But, is it true that when fX re-ran this series, that about two of these episodes mistakenly used the 1970 version of the theme tune?
The episodes in question are (all of them with Willy in the opening credits, instead of Doug): 5x01 - Killer (September 19, 1970) 5x02 - Flip Side (September 26, 1970) 5x04 - Homecoming (October 10, 1970) 5x07 - Butterfly (October 31, 1970) Another episode, "The Rebel" (5x11, November 28, 1970), also has Willy in the opening credits, but still uses the newer theme music! This episode was also the only one to feature stock music by Hugo Montenegro, who for four seasons was the composer of the I Dream of Jeannie theme! ~Ben |
