We're pretty much all the reenactments done at the locations they happened at?

The UM Location thread is a fun one to look at to see what I'm talking about. It's kinda eerie to see the actual locations, but then it's also interesting to note which locations were not used. I think the most recent one posted was Patsy Wright's house. Not the same one they used in the reenactment. |

UM filmed at the real locations a striking number of times. If they didn't have access to the homes or landmarks, they filmed nearby or elsewhere in the actual cities.
From the UM locations thread, these are the ones I know of where they didn't film at the real spots. 1. The Wackers (They still lived in the house at the time and probably didn't want it shown in the reenactment.) 2. Cindy James (She moved 4 times during the last several years of her life and the home featured in the reenactment was not one of the homes she lived in.) 3. Roger Dean (UM filmed at a house that was two blocks from the real Dean home.) 4. William Bradford Bishop (The reenactment of the the police officer searching the Bishop house was not the actual Bishop house. The owners of the real house would not allow UM to film there. Also, Bishop bought the gas can, shovel, sledge hammer and pitch fork from a Sears department store. In the reenactment, he's buying those items from a little hardware store.) 5. The Maples (Family members have pointed out that the house used in the reenactment was not the house Marvin and Sandra lived in when they kidnapped Bobby and Christi. However, the park that Mark and Debbie played with the kids at in Murfreesboro was the same park as shown in the photos during the segment.) |

I just wonder what kind of people were the ones where this type of conversation took place:
(UM producers or reps) "Hello, sir/ma'am! We're filming a reenactment for our TV show Unsolved Mysteries. One of the cases/segments that will be featured on the show took place in your city/town but we're unable to access the exact location at this time, so we were wondering if you'd be interested in letting us use your residence to film the re-enactment? (talk about how much they will be compensated...) Person(s): Yeah, that sounds great! I'd be happy to do that. |

Those I of which know not filmed at the actual locations are Resurrection Mary--Resurrection Cemetery does not allow any Mary-related filming, if indeed they allow filming at all--and George Reeves--at least, I think it was Unsolved Mysteries to whom the house was available at the time but found to be too small in which to film. This may have happened with other programs devoted to Reeves as well. Those taking place in Eastern Europe, such as Grand Duchess Anastasia--I think they found people who spoke the real languages but did not travel to the real places. The house where the execution took place has been destroyed to avoid its becoming a shrine and of course a huge church has been built there since and the Imperial Family all declared passion bearers for the church. (Similar to saints.) The Unsolved Mysteries reenactment was much more accurate than most filmed reenactments of the Imperial Family's execution, but all were done before new documents came to light over the last few years giving additional details.
