I've noticed that in country music today it is rare to find the next best singers and groups and I would like to know why today's country music is different and what happened to great country groups and singers? Is it because there is a whole lot of singers hoping to be huge in Country music or is it because country groups want to try a new sound to attract a new audience? Take for instance in the 80's there were a whole line of country singers that made it huge in the music market like Kenny Rogers Juice Newton Johnny Lee and even the late Marty Robbins made it huge in the 80's. And then you had country bands like Alabama and Restless Heart that made a big success in the 80's then as the 90's continued you saw Alabama release songs like I'm In A Hurry And Don't Know Why and many others and then you never hear from the country singers and bands anymore. And I think with the debut of singers like Taylor Swift and and Keith Urban we will see Country music gain a whole new image with talented bands and singers

Country Music has gone Hollywood. The singers are all now on the "red Carpet" and fashion plates. It is a far cry from the traditional . I personally didn't like country music until the late 80's /early 90's when my favorite performers were (and still are) Dwight Yoakam, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Carlene Carter, Tanya Tucker,Patty Loveless and groups like Brooks and Dunn, Confederate railroad and Asleep At The Wheel. At that time there were some good and very funny videos. Now days they seem to have gone the "sexy" route like MTV. I guess I sound "old fogeyish" but that is my opinion. I don't even listen to or watch the new performers. Not interested!
![]() P.S. I still love Loretta Lynn,Tammy Wynette and Johnny Cash Now, they are REAL country!

One thing that happens to great singers is the sad fact that they aren't here forever. To me, the best male singer went forward last year..........if only I had discovered him before then, I love him SO much!!!
![]() God bless you and his family always!!! Holly P.S. I could listen to him all day...and his eyes and his smile...to me the late beautiful precious is the complete and total package. |

You can't beat George Strait. Today's "country" (translation-rock/pop crap) sucks. You can still find good real, traditional bands and singers but you really have to search for them because they aren't the mainstream anymore and it's a dirty rotten shame. But there's a few that make it on the radio like the newcomers Maddie and Tae and the new male solo singer Mo Pitney that are excellent and are real country music.
Ed. ETA: And you can take that "bro country" garbage and flush it down the toilet where it belongs. |

Two words: bro country. Once that exploded, everyone else was pushed aside.
