What I've come up with so far:

Andy: Matthew McConaughey

Johnny: Philip Seymour Hoffman

Bailey: Kirsten Dunst

Herb: Jack Black

Jennifer: Angelina Jolie

I have to get back to it, damn it's hard.

Okay, some might want to lynch me for this, but off the top of my head, the only actress I can think of for the role of Jennifer would be Pam Anderson.

Think it over..more casting notes to follow...

Jack Black for Herb Tarlek? Oh man! The other dude from Tenacious D could be Les! The band must be reunited!
Actually, Im going to swipe Jack Black from your list and put him on mine for Dr. Fever since i couldnt think of anyone for that (although i had been toying with David Carradine out of desperation for a name)

This is what I would do different

Arthur Carlson: Martin Mull
Andy Travis: Topher Grace
Mother Carlson: Lauren Becall
Herb Tarlek: Fred Willard
Arthur Jr: MacCauley Culkin
Bailey: Natalie Portman
Les Nessman: Wallace Shawn
Jennifer: Ashley Judd
Johnny: I agree, Danny Masterson would be good.

Oh okay, See i was about Little Arthur grown up.
I don't know who i'd get to play him as a kid, I'll just go along with whoever said Frankie Muniz.

Hirsch: Dominick Chianese (Uncle Junior - The Sopranos)
that's the only one i can think of.

I think Steve Zahn could be good as Andy Travis

I, for one am sick to death of Hollywood remakes - why don't they do something fresh instead.

I agree that I don't want to see a WKRP movie remake. I think some of the casting choices here are interesting, but I think many of them are based on looks and physical appearance.

That's natural, as you want actors and actresses who bear some resemblance to the originals as you remember them. But I don't know if some of these choices are the best in terms of acting ability and what they'd bring to the role.

That having been said, here are my choices, which I'll admit, are based on physical appearance for the most part.

Jennifer Marlowe: Jessica Simpson
Bailey Quarters: Britney Spears (think about it - wouldn't it be great reverse casting for Britney to play a low-key brunette?)
Herb Tarlek: Jack Black

That's about all I can come up with right now.
