Kim Kardashian Flees Paris after Being Tied Up and Robbed by Masked Gunmen

Kim Kardashian boarded a private plane out of Paris, France early Monday morning after a harrowing evening in which police say she was tied up in her hotel room by armed gunmen and robbed of more than $10 million in jewelry.

The gunmen gained access to the reality star's residence by handcuffing the concierge of her luxury residence and forcing him at gunpoint to lead them to Kardashian's room, police say.



They also reportedly took two of Kardashian's smartphones which, given the star's prediliction toward oversharing on social media, could contain a wealth of personal information.

Kardashian's rep Ina Treciokas told FOX411 in a statement that Kim was "was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room ... by two armed masked men dressed as police officers. She is badly shaken but physically unharmed."



Paris police said five armed, masked men, who were still at large, stole a box containing valuables worth $6.7 million as well as a ring worth more than $4 million. The two officials confirmed Kardashian escaped uninjured and that an investigation was underway.

Police said the robbers tied up Kardashian and locked her in the bathroom before escaping on bikes.








Kardashian had been attending fashion shows for Paris Fashion Week, and had most recently gone to a Givenchy event on Sunday, which she tweeted about.

Kardashian reportedly was interviewed by police before boarding a private plane back to the United States.



Her husband Kanye West was performing at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York City at the time of the robbery and abruptly ended the concert, telling his fans that he had to deal with a “family emergency.”

"I'm sorry, family emergency I have to stop the show," West told the audience.

16 Arrested Over Kim Kardashian Jewelry Heist

Just over three months after Kim Kardashian was robbed of more than $10 million worth of jewelry at an apartment in Paris, French police arrested 16 people connected to the crime.

Paris police officials said the arrests took place starting around 6 a.m. in different locations in the Paris region. The suspects — aged from 23 to 72 — can be held for up to 96 hours before police must either charge them or let them go.



Media reports said police tracked down the suspects through DNA evidence found at the residence. One official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said many were already known for robbery and other crimes.

The officials spoke on anonymity because they were not allowed to speak publicly about the continuing investigation.





Jean Veil, the French lawyer for Kardashian, said the news of arrests is, "a great satisfaction." "These arrests are a nice surprise because we might be able to find the jewels," he told the French magazine L'Express Monday.

Veil said Kim Kardashian could be called back to Paris to meet with investigators and might have to face the suspects.





Police said the thieves stole a jewelry box containing valuables worth 6 million euros ($6.7 million) as well as a ring worth 4 million euros ($4.5 million).

Paris police and prosecutor's office previously said five people directly took part in the robbery, including two who forced their way into the apartment.

Police analyzed footage from surveillance cameras to try to identify the assailants, who wore fake police emblems on their jackets.





On Oct. 3, robbers forced their way into the private Paris residence where Kardashian was staying, tied her up, held her at gunpoint and then locked her in a bathroom before making off with her jewelry. The reality TV star was in Paris attending fashion week shows.

At the time, a spokeswoman for Kardashian said she was badly shaken but physically unharmed. The robbery raised new concerns about security in the French capital after a string of deadly extremist attacks.

Earlier this month, the starlet broke her silence on the robbery in a teaser for the family's reality show, E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians", telling two of her sisters her thoughts at the time: "They're going to shoot me in the back. There's no way out."

Kim Kardashian Robbery Details Emerge in French Police Report

Since Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris back in October, the reality star has quietly distanced herself from the public. Now, details of her ordeal have become available, with the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche published what it says is a police report filed by Kim, and it's no wonder why she's been so reclusive.

It sounds like the mother of two survived a genuine ordeal.





Kim and her sisters were staying at the No Address Hotel, a historic private mansion available to "hand-selected A-listers" where Kim's husband Kanye West has maintained a semi-permanent residence since 2011.

Kourtney Kardashian and stylist Simone Harouche were changing for a night out when Kim decided to retire early, going upstairs to work on her computer.





According to the report, Kim gave this harrowing statement to authorities after escaping her restraints. (The quotes have presumably gone through some degree of translation from English to French and back again.)

"I heard a noise at the door, like footsteps, and I shouted, asking 'Who's there?' No one answered. I called my bodyguard at 2:56 AM. Through the door, I saw two people arrive, plus the night man, who was tied up."

The intruders wore police paraphernalia and one wore ski goggles. Kim says the one with ski goggles stayed with her and demanded that she give him a ring from her bedside table that she says was worth $4 million.



"He took out a gun and I showed him the ring," Kim says in the report.

"They grabbed me and took me into the hallway. I was wearing a bathrobe, naked underneath. Then we went in the room again and they pushed me on the bed. And, it was this time, they tied me up with plastic cables and taped my hands, then they put tape over my mouth and my legs. ... I felt they were a bit inexperienced because of the way they tied me up."





Kim told authorities she was robbed of $5 million. In addition to the ring, the burglars took two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings and a gold Rolex before fleeing on foot.

Seventeen people have been arrested and 10 have been formally charged with the heist. The man considered the mastermind, whose DNA matches samples found on the adhesive tape that bound Kim, is known as "Omar A" or "Omar the Old."





It sounds like a deeply traumatizing experience. Fortunately Kim was unharmed and was able to reunite with infant son Saint, 3-year-old daughter North and husband Kanye shortly afterwards.

In the last few weeks, the Kardashians have begun sharing low-key images of the family together on social media, with no jewelry or high-ticket items on display.
