Default Cancellations of the 2016-17 Network TV Season

This is the official SitcomsOnline Thread about the Cancellations and Endings of the 2016-2017 Network TV Season. Early predictions can be based on which shows will be permanently gone from new episodes after this season, which new series premiered to mediocre (or abysmal) ratings, and which new shows anyone here can't possibly imagine doing well.

Three programs are already slated to end their original runs after this season: Bones (FOX, 12 seasons); The Vampire Diaries (The CW, 8 seasons); and Grimm (NBC, 6 seasons).

My pick for first cancellation of the season is Notorious. It will go fractional and be pulled after episode 2.

I'll go with Kevin Can Wait. It is simply awful.

You're both very wrong about Kevin Can Wait.

I predict the remake of MacGyver will be gone in a couple of months. Remakes of TV shows are usually a bad idea and I never watch them. The original MacGyver was cheesy enough on its own so I can only assume this one is just going to be awful. And I don't think The Designated Survivor will last the TV season either. It's too ridiculous.

I like Designated Survivor, it is so far my favorite new show this season. And last night it won its timeslot with a 1.8 demo for the 2nd episode.

I will say The Real O'Neal's may get the ax this year. I'm no fan of modern sitcoms, but this show looks very dumb!

No you're not alone in thinking this way, I've gotten so used to the multi-cam sitcoms with no laugh track that when I do get around to seeing a modern single camera sitcom with laugh track it just sounds so phoney and forced.

The Big Bang Theory gets away with it I don't know how or why because it seems the stupid audience is laughing at every stupid thing being said.

Kevin Can Wait is HORRIBLE! Pure crap.

MacGuyver remake is also terrible.

Notorious is DOA.

Exorcist may be on its way to getting the axe, same with Notorious.

My pick for the first cancellation of the 2016-17 season is Conviction.

This legal drama on ABC Network airs on Castle's old timeslot. It's getting lower ratings and viewership from Castle's last season in 2015-16, and its critical reception was poor.
