FX Renews "The Strain" for 4th and Final Season
"The Strain" Renewed for a Final Season
by James Hibberd 9/27/16 FX’s vampire apocalypse has an end date. "The Strain" has been renewed for a fourth season. That’s the good news. The downside is that it will be the show’s final season. For fans who like their shows to have a clear end date and not overstay their welcome, this announcement might be good news all around. The current third season is expected to take the show’s narrative right up to the end of the second of three novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan upon which the show is based, so the producers will adapt the final novel into a single season. “It is a true joy to work at FX where creative intentions always comes first,” said showrunner Carlton Cuse. “Our original plan was for the series to last three years. Once we began telling that story it expanded to be more. After finishing the writing on season three, Guillermo, Chuck and I looked at our remaining story and felt the best version could be told in one more season. We have a fantastic plan for an exciting and climatic season four. We are deeply grateful to FX for supporting our vision and for allowing us to end the show on our own timetable.” The third season is currently airing on FX on Sunday nights. The current third season was reduced from the show’s usual 13 episodes to 10. No word yet how many episodes the final season will feature. But the show will return one more time next summer. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/09/27...celed-season-4 |

"The Strain" Sets July Premiere Date for Fourth & Final Season
by Denise Petski May 9, 2017 FX has slotted Sunday, July 16 at 10 PM for the premiere of the fourth and final season of thriller drama series "The Strain". Season 4 picks up nine months later, with the world having fallen into darkness and the strigoi in control following the explosion at the end of Season 3 that triggered a global nuclear apocalypse. The resulting nuclear winter liberated the strigoi, allowing them to move about during daytime, and allowing the Master to establish a totalitarian regime. Preying on the fears of the populace, the Master and his minions have created an unsettling alliance in “The Partnership.” The majority of humans are now working for the strigoi, operating with a single understanding — collaborate or die. The ensemble cast stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Miguel Gomez, Richard Sammel, Max Charles and Rupert Penry-Jones. http://deadline.com/2017/05/the-stra...fx-1202087633/ |

Was this show ever popular? it seems FX were wanting a Walking Dead type of break-out show but with sporadic breaks how was the audience ever coming back?
