Default Did they ever solve Deborah Poe case?

I remember they seemed to suspect the guy with the rock shirt that was behind the counter. When I saw the recent farina airing they made it seem like they had a possible suspect and didn't believe the guy behind counter was involved. I don't remember that part before. Last thing I remember was the guy behind counter being only possible one.

I seem to remember it was implied that Deborah's friend who visited her at the store that night was being looked at a suspect. But the case is still unsolved, as Deborah is still missing.

Authorities said that they had a suspect in her disappearance and searched for her remains near a church, but they've never publicly named the individual. There's been statements claiming that Megadeth guy is no longer considered a suspect, but imo his actions and how they fit into the timeframe are still questionable. There's also been speculation about her then boyfriend (he was the friend that visited the store that evening), the naked guy who tried to assault her at the gas station a few weeks prior to her disappearance, and a man that she had previously dated that she was afraid of.

I think they have a strong inkling as to who abducted and murdered her, but cannot move forward without her body. I believe the police narrowed it down to a friend of hers (unsure if it's the same friend depicted in the segment) and her boyfriend at the time. Leaning more towards the friend, IIRC.

The thing that also really disturbs me about this case is that a naked man had chased Deborah through the store only a short time before her abduction. It sounds like police believe it was her friend/boyfriend, but that sure is a creepy coincidence.

I hope it's not the friend. It's always more interesting when it's a random stranger.

I forgot about this case/ segment.

This is one of those cases that still seems solvable to me. I am surprised that it hasn't got that much attention. But I guess it goes with the territory of other cold cases.

I do remember watching this years back and not liking the idea that a friend would go visit his friend overnight at her work just to review house plans. That doesn't seem rational to me. But maybe I am biased, I enjoy going to bed by nine every night.

I believe the same friend was the one who contacted the police when he returned to the store and found it empty. I don't find it too unusual that she would have friends visit her since she was working the graveyard shift. It probably made her feel a bit more secure.

You are probably right. I need to rewatch this case. Maybe it is just me, but this case seems to be one of the forgotten ones. I will make a point to watch it again over the weekend.

Wow I didn't know about that. Was this mentioned in the UM segment? It's been years since I've seen it.

I think they found out who the naked man was that went into the store: http://media0.giphy.com/media/LdHnRTfdtl6O4/200_s.gif

Deborah's mother is the only living relative still searching for her. Deborah's father and older brother have since died, and her mother says that Lori Tillman, the friend/roommate, and Scott Iaggi, Deborah's boyfriend, have broken off contact with her. I find that sad. I am sure they cared a lot for her and I hope they'd still want justice for Deborah.

I worked at conv store in the 90s and you definitely meet some crazy people during the night shift. Usually didn't work by myself but sometimes for a few hours I would be by myself since one of the workers didn't come in until 3. It was intimidating since I knew if something happened i was on my own.

Hopefully they solve this case

This Deborah Poe segment is especially haunting. Strange that they found no trace of her in the store. She was almost certainly abducted, but it's creepy (though not unusual) that she just vanished. Her car & and purse (in the back seat) were still in the parking lot, etc.

As i remember about two or three other women about the same age as deborah, who had just happened to also have moved to this town from another part of the country and who also worked the graveyard shift at gas stations were also murdered around about this time.

Didn't they arrest someone for the murder of one of these women and also believe they he killed deborah but never had enough evidence? this is one of those cases where were not being told the full story or the police simply did an awful job.
