Default "The Auction" episode.

We have had lots of fun discussing "plot holes" in the series. But there are also things in episodes that aren't exactly plot holes...they just simply don't make sense.

In "The Auction", the girls had no way to pay for a $10,000 new roof.

But when they went to an auction to buy a painting they knew would be valuable in the near future, they had no problem bidding the same $10,000 for it.

How exactly did they come up with that same $10,000? And if they could, why not just skip the auction and use that $10,000 to buy their roof?

Not to mention why did renters like Dorothy, Sophia and Rose have to pay for roof repair in the first place?

A good point, Anna.

I would have to be totally committed to my living environment to contribute to a thousand dollar new roof! LOL And as I mentioned above, if they had $10,000 to bid on a painting, why would they claim to not have the same amount to go toward a new roof?

And they had endless amounts of money for expensive evening wear and vacations too!

Did the actors never pick up on the nonsense?

I'm especially surprised at Betty White not noticing that her parents were described as "Frank (sic) and Alma Nylund" instead of Lindstrum.

It was well established that Nylund was her married name.
