Default A Planned Brady Bunch Blog Review of Every Episode!

Hey Guys,

I am a fan of The Brady Bunch and have been for decades! Below is a cool website of a blogger that plans to review every episode of the Brady Bunch!

https://bradybunchreviewed.wordpress.com/

I found this site at a Brady Bunch Facebook group page. The blogger plans to not only do a review of each episode, but also point out any plot holes or inconsistencies. He just started a day or so ago, and only a few episodes are currently on the blog. I hope he can keep up with this! He is using the DVD prints.

Anyway, enjoy this!

Jack

Thanks for sharing this. I've read the 3 posts so far, and it gives me something to look forward to on Fridays for a couple years now.

Yes. Thanks.
I find it interesting to read articles and commentaries and reviews like the ones in the blog even if they are a bit lengthy.
I agree that there are episodes of TV shows that have strange or confusing plots or scenes to them, and you have to wonder how the script writers or producers could have overlooked the odd details . This blog points out some curious things about one Brady Bunch Episode, in which Greg and Marcia want their parents to pay them to baby sit their younger siblings while they (Carol and Mike Brady) go out to see a show, and Bobby Brady asks who will help him bathe if his mom or dad are not at home, Marcia or Greg? Of course Bobby Brady is a character no younger than 8 years old and should be able to bathe himself.

I wish a blog like this were made about other TV shows too.

These blogs read mostly like an episode summary rather than a review. The observations that were made about plot flaws are correct from what I've seen so far. I just read the write up for "Eenie Meenie Mommy Daddy" and it mirrored a thought that I've had for years - why a special performance just for the Bradys? What about all the parents who couldn't come to the first show? I imagine that would have pissed a lot of people off when they found out.

Thank you for posting that link Jack...I think it will be a fun read!

Even if the posts were a bit lengthy, that's fine with me, I appreciate the time invested by the author. I think he mentioned that he plans to cut the length of his articles a bit because it does take a bit of time to put a review together.

I enjoy his humorous take on things we've all talked about over the years.

Just finished reading what seem to be the 2 latest reviews. One is of the episode (episode 21) "The Winner."

In the episode, Bobby is feeling down because his brothers and sisters all won trophies for some accomplishment but he has not won any trophy for anything and feels like a failure.
Those of you who remember the ep , know that Bobby eventually tries to win a trophy by being on a Kid's TV show in an ice-cream eating contest.

The review does not detail certain scenes that I recall watching on the original episode. I remember that Bobby is lying in bed watching the kid's TV show and the Captain-Kangaroo-like host looks at the camera asking the TV viewers if they like ice cream. Bobby answers saying yes. Then the show host asks what flavor, and Bobby says "Strawberry." Then the show host says "Well what about chocolate?" and Bobby says 'Yuck."

It might be that the review was of an episode that was edited for the latest video release.

I do agree with the review that this episode was awkward in that Bobby was shown being angry and disappointed when he tried to win a magazine-subscription selling contest but found out that his parents arranged for their neighbors and friends to buy the subscriptions form Bobby out of pity and to help him win. But at the end of the episode, Bobby, who lost at the ice-cream eating contest was given a made-up award by his family for "trying hard," and Bobby seemed to feel good about himself at last.
If he felt that his parents tried to falsely make him win a magazine-subscription selling contest, why would he feel better about his family humoring him for trying to win ?

(I don't see any way to comment on the site itself).

If you are on a particular blog entry, you can scroll to the bottom of the entry and write a comment in the box "Leave a Reply". You will need to give a valid email address (only visible to the blog owner) and a name for yourself that will appear by your comment, or I think you can leave an anonymous comment with no email address. If you are on the home page, you can click on the box "x comments" under the date of the blog entry, and that should take you to the blog entry, where you can scroll to the bottom & comment as I mentioned before.

The blogger is covering the episodes in order. "Try Try Again" aired during Season 5, and he just finished Season 2, so at his pace of 1 episode per week, he will probably get to that episode sometime next spring.

I am a bit surprised that the episodes are in the order of their original airing one after the other.
It seems to me that in some of the earlier episodes, the kids look older than in they do in the later episodes.

By the way, what is the plot synopsis for "Try Try Again"?

It's the episode from Season 5 where Jan feels that she's a failure at everything she tries. First she fails at ballet, and her sisters are picked for a recital while she isn't. Then she fails at other things like baton twirling and acting. Of course, eventually she finds an area where she succeeds.
