I remember an episode where Harriette gives someone a big speech on what "cool" is. The audience gives her a big cheer at the end. I remember it being Eddie, but I could be wrong.
At first, I thought it might be the episode "It's a mad mad mad house" where Eddie puts the bikini poster in front of the teachers pull down display. I always thought that was the episode with the speech, but I did not see it. Next, I thought it might be "walk on the wild side" where Laura acts out by going to an adult club. Harriette DOES give Laura a speech about how being yourself is cool, but it wasn't what I was looking for. As I remember it, Eddie was getting in trouble because he was trying to seem cool to certain people. And Harriette sits him down and goes on this long rant about how being respectful and all that... "THAT'S cool!" She says. And the audience cheers. Anyone know what episode this is??? |

The season three episode titled "Jailhouse Blues" has some relative of the Winslows staying with them for a while. He thinks he's so cool and ends up getting Eddie and Steve arrested. Towards the end of the episode, Harriet has a speech on being cool which sounds just like the one you mentioned so... my guess is episode #62. "Jailhouse Blues."

Yes, that wasn't Eddy or Laura. It was their cousin Clarence, a thug from Detroit.

I remember that speech. Its one that way too many people these days need thrown at them in my opinion.
God bless you always!!! Holly P.S. What made that speech so great was that Harriette got to be the one who made the decision of having him be sent back to where ever he came from. She asked him if he was sorry about anything that he had done, and after hearing him say that he was only sorry that he got caught, she told him to gather his things because she and the rest of the family wasn't going to put up with him anymore. |

here's what I think she said:
"Cool is believing in yourself and the people around you. Cool is knowing the difference between right and wrong. And when you make a mistake, having the courage to admit to it. That's what Cool really means." or something along those lines |
