I just realized two little connections this classic action film with Al Pacino has to unsolved mysteries.
During the credits, recognition is given to a "Harold Hecht, Sr" which was Adam Hecht's father. Adam was the young man who went missing in California after getting himself tangled up with street life. Coincidently, in the beginning of the movie during the infamous colombian chainsaw scene the young blonde girl seen flirting with Manny while parked on the curb was Tammi Lynn Leppert (short lived actor/model) who went missing shortly after the film was released. I was just thinking about the movie and remembered this. |

Interesting. Harold was pretty much retired from producing by the time "Scarface" came out, but I guess he must have had some influence on the production or the people who made the film. It's worth noting that the original 1932 version of "Scarface" was written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Ben Hecht, but I don't see any indication that the two of them were related.
On a related note, I've always wondered if Tammy Lyn Leppert was intended to have a more substantial role in "Scarface". She isn't listed in the credits because she doesn't have any dialogue and only appears on screen as an extra for a few seconds. I always got the impression she was supposed to have a few lines of dialogue with Manny on camera, but she had her breakdown and left the production before her stuff could be shot, so she only appeared in the final film from a distance in some long shots. |

Didn't she have a few lines of dialogue? IIRC she was playing the blonde chick who Manny was hitting on while waiting in the car while Tony was dealing with the Colombians in the motel - the infamous bathroom chainsaw scene.

So there's a shot of her at the very beginning... ![]() But once she left, she seemed to be replaced by this girl, who had the dialogue with Vinny.

Random, but I think Scarface is one of the most overrated films of all time.

I'm assuming they probably would have shot some close-ups of her acting out this scene if she hadn't quit the film. Even though it wasn't a large role, I'm sure her beauty alone would have brought her a lot of attention. |
