I love UM, but one thing I don't get is why did they take some of the old UM footage under Stack and have Farina re-voice over the material? Why were there many episodes where they basically changed nothing in the substance of the show other than making Farina the host and having him re-narrate the stories?
I don't get the point of it and while it doesn't affect me personally I'd think the Stack estate would be a lil miffed or disrespected by it. A huge reason the original UM worked was because of Stack's voice and narration. Dude was money. Farina was decent too but if they were going to use him, it shoulda been for new stories and new mysteries not to just redo everything Stack had done. IMHO of course. |

Yeah there are many threads out there already on this dating back to 2009 or before time frame. It is sort of an old topic that is settled if you ask me. No one can replace Bob stack. Many of us even to this day want to see the show live on and perhaps move on to new episodes while keeping the legacy of the old ones Alive and continuing to get tips to solve cold cases. I've come to terms with Dennis farinas version because it did keep the show on the airways whether we all like it or not. It is important to note that Dennis also passed away and that he in his own right was a police officer and a great actor and should be commended for taking on the challenge of narrating stacks show. Nothing will ever be as good as the original regardless of what UM does in the future and that may be why they cannot make new shows.

also to be noted was that i think it took courage for Farina to step into those shoes and try and do what Stack did knowing people would wonder about it all. i think a newer UM with new cases should be brought back. |
