Mariah Carey Will Finally Cameo on "Empire"

That long-teased Mariah Carey appearance on "Empire" is finally happening:

Carey will cameo on the Fox musical drama October 5, as just announced during the networks Television Critics Association Summer Tour presentation.

Carey will play Kitty, an A-list music star (way to stretch, Mariah!) who comes to Empire Entertainment to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on a new track. Kitty helps Jamal dig deep when they hit a roadblock, assisting him in overcoming personal difficulties and helping him reach a breakthrough.

Season 3 begins Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9/8 on Fox. Carey's appearance will air Wednesday, Oct. 5.

"Empire" star Taraji P. Henson mentioned that Mariah Carey has already shot her guest appearance on the show.

“She was great,” Henson said during the TCA panel . “She’s fabulous; I wish I could wear a leotard like that. What she brings to the music industry she brought to the show. I’m glad Mariah spent time with little old us.”
