It had been years since I've seen the show until a few months back, when I starred watching the MeTV reruns.
Iola's infactuation with Vint softened as the years went by, but in the beginning, it was quite obvious and she and Naomi even had an icy rapport at first. The way they greeted each other in "Farewell Frannie" and their exchange. I loved when Iola said that, being a home-ec major, she knew how to lay a buffet and Naomi snapped, "I bet that's all" or something to that effect. The "Fly Naomi" episode was a great showcase for Iola's being smitten with Vint, inviting him over for ice cream and their sitting on the front porch. Is that the only episode where Mama comments on Iola's feelings? Such LOL lines- the one about her wanting him to crank more than her ice cream maker, the lust going on on the front porch, etc. etc. When Naomi suggests finding Iola a man, she notes that Iola's always making goo-goo eyes at her husband (or something to that effect). Can anyone post other instances where Iola's feelings for Vint are on full display, or noted in an episode, by either Naomi or Mama? Thanks. EDIT: I watched "The Love Letter" today- a definite highlight in Iola's pining for Vint.
