Default Get this: CBS is allegedly planning to reboot "The Golden Girls"

http://empirenews.net/betty-white-to...reboot-on-cbs/

It's supposed to be made as a dark and gritty sitcom. I honestly don't see that succeeding at all. The original was funny and it was light-hearted, mostly clean fun. I don't see this reboot working at all.

She should play a differant character. She was on Hot in Cleveland which was a remake of The Golden Girls and she played the Estelle Getty part. In that one, she was funny.

Does anyone know much about this "emirenews.net"? Is it just a tabloid?
I'm wondering if it's just a scam or satirical article.

If this is true, I'm shocked. Might be interesting, but you just know people will be poised and ready to gripe..."It's just not the same", etc... "yadda, yadda, yadda".

I'll take my Betty any way I can get her, but I'd be surprised if she's actually willing to do Golden Girls again with a different cast. Even using a phrase like "my crowning achievement as an actress" doesn't sound like her. Plus, they claim it's going to take place "in the same house"? How are they going to explain that, since they sold that house to buy the Golden Palace, remember?

I guess time will tell, huh?

Did you notice that this article was actually posted back in February? Then someone posted a response to it just a few days ago.

I find it hard to believe that in all this time, no other news outlet has told us about this if it's really true. Shows like Entertainment Tonight; Access Hollywood; etc. would have been all over this. My guess is it's a hoax, but a very interesting find "Family Matters."

Thanks, Zoneboy,

That disclaimer is the same type you see on the inside cover of the Enquirer, Star, and other tabloids. The phrase "Entertainment purposes only" has long been used to mean, "We're lying through our teeth, but we hope you're stupid enough to buy our magazine anyway."

Nothing about the story rang true, so I'm glad you were able to find that.

We can only take comfort in knowing that legitimate Golden Girls information is brought to us by legitimate sources.

Wasn't one of the networks supposedly planning a male version of the show?

The closest we get now is The Cool Kids.

LOL, it's a very cute show, and I've always liked Vicky Lawrence. I watch it, and will continue to do so. But it's so different from GG that I don't think people will even make the comparison.

The only common thread is that it's about older people, which is very cool these days.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

And that it's about 4 people.

And that one of them is very short.

And that one of them is sarcastic.

And that one of them is square.

And that one of them has an inflated ego.

Yeah, I've noticed the similarities as well.
