What drew me in was the premise of the show. I thought it was going to be an interesting show so I watched one episode and I was hooked! Another thing that drew me in was the cast, especially Bea Arthur.
So , what drew you into watching this show? |

I always liked Betty White and Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur could deliver a punch line like no one else. Plus, the fact that it was going to show her character interacting with her mother was a strong selling point. Yes, the show had some clunkers -especially towards the end. However; overall, it fulfilled its promise of a fun, clever comedy based on somewhat believable characters.

What started me watching the Golden Girls in their original 1980s run and never missing a single episode was the fact that I really liked Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Betty White. What kept me watching week after week was the fantastic chemistry among and professionalism of the four actresses on the show (Estelle Getty rounding out the cast). You can tell just by watching the show that they all loved each other and were having a very good time making the show. Loved it.

They loved each other on set at least. Off set was a whole different story

Back in 85, there weren't a gazillion channels yet, so I came across this show while channel surfing.
Although I didn't watch either MTM or Maude in its original run, both Bea and Betty were household names by then, so that helped. At that time I only vaguely heard of Rue. The Break-In was the first episode I saw. |

Two Words...... BETTY WHITE! But, of course I continued to watch the entire series because the show was so cute and entertaining. |

I always loved sit-coms, as long as they didn't get too off-color or vulgar, which The Golden Girls never did.
The story lines kept me tuning in each week, after the cast starring Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Bea Arnold drew me in initially.
