Default manic depression

Does anyone have manic depression? If so, do you take
meds for it? does it help?? ok, I'm asking because I think
that I might possibly have it. I'm going to the doctor next
week to find out what's wrong with me. I think it's manic
depression because I was talking to this lady on-line that
I always talk to and she has it, so judging from what I told
her...she said that it sounds like I'm going through what
she used to before she went on medication. I used to be
strongly against taking meds but I got out of the denial
stage and realized that I have a problem that needs to be
fixed, so I'm actually going to do something about it. I'm
going to consult the doc about this. My moods aren't normal.
All of a sudden I'll be really happy (almost like I'm high) and
then it's gone as quick as it comes followed by depression.
I was told that it's the warning sign of manic depression
because the extreme happiness is the manic state and then
the depression state comes into play next. It really sucks.
If any of you are going through this, I advise you to get
help because no one should have to live like this. I've felt
this way for a while, but now I'm going to see what the hell
is wrong with me. I hope everyone else will do the same if
you're having any problems.

I'm glad you have the nerve to admit you have a depression problem, and going to a doctor is the next logical step. I've had depression problems over the years. It sounds pretty much like what you described. I could be so happy one second and then b******* the next hour and a half. I've admitted to myself that I have depression problems, yet I don't do anything else about it. I just try to deal with it, and that is tough. I don't know, maybe I'm embarassed to tell my parents that I have a problem. Anyway, good luck with your appointment.

I used to have OCD when I was 10 and it went away with two medications when I was 12, and the medications work fast! I'm of of em now. Don't get worried if you do have manic depression because if you take your medicine everyday things will be better, but with manic depression I don't think it goes away forever. I REALLY hope you don't have it, good luck!

BTW for those who don't know OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and they gave me Luvox and Zoloft for it. Anyone ever heard of it?

Isn't that where you have to have something done a certain number of times or it just makes you scared or something?? I don't know much about it, if thats what it is.

Yes, I have heard of OCD. I am glad that the medicine was able to cure it for you.

I've heard of OCD. My on-line friend has that and it didn't
go away for her. She said that she has to constantly be
doing something. I don't know; maybe I'm mistaken. she
said something about it a while back but didn't really
elaborate.

Your sort of right. For me I used to wash my hands repeatedly and I had to live a balanced life, I really don't like to talk about it nowadays, I've kind of blocked that period out of my life forever. Sometimes I would wash my hands to the point where there so wrinkled they would start to bleed and I didn't really know why I did it, it just felt like if I didn't do it thing just weren't normal. Now I think it's ridiculous I only wash my hands now after I eat something messy or my hands get dirty. By the way Mysterious Chick, some people don't find the right meds for it to go away or they don't try to control it, it is a curable disorder.

Well I probably have that. According to my mother, teachers and doctors I am crazy (they say I have depression and a long list of other stuff). I have been taking medicine for awhile now for it but it hasn't been helping. Hopefully if they give you medicine it will help you.

I have chronic depression and OCD and I have been on medicine for both since I was 11 (I'm 24 now.) I have a cousin who has manic depression.

i did a report on manice depression...well depression. good luck with your appointment. you gotta take the meds though unless your doc says you don't need em. cuz you get all crazy and bitchy and like it's crazy. if you ever watched the 90210 episode that delt with david becoming a manic depressive you'd understand what i'm saying. but...good luck.
