Default I can see why it was almost cancelled in its first season

I saw the first season of this show and it was horrible! but i am glad it wasnt cancelled! i loved it from the second season to the last season! but o my god if Fox was shown in 100% homes back then this show would have been off the air faster than a bullet on a freight train. i just wanted to post that and if anyone else agrees that the first season was horrible!

I use to be Bundyboy....
Im a huge fan of Married With Children but I have to agree with you! The first season was very slow and boring compared to the other 10 years! The other 10 years were funny, in your facce, and great! And Peg was a good housewife in the first season! AHHH!!!:

You have to admit though that in the early episodes of the show, Peg and Al would always fight a lot, which they hardly never did in the later episodes. Yes, in the early episodes, Peg would cook. But come on, was the food ever any good? LMAO And also in the early episodes, Peg would smoke, whereas in the later episodes she never did. My point is, I loved every episode made from 1987 to 1997 except the "No Ma'am" episodes. I didn't care for those episodes that much. Al's buddies never really amused me except Officer Dan. He was the only one of Al's buddies I enjoyed. One of Officer Dan's sayings that made me laugh was this one. Officer Dan: "There's a robbery in progress, and i'm gonna sit under the bridge and take a nap" LOL You know, there was one episode where Steve and Jefferson were both in it. In that episode, Jefferson, at the time, was working at a car wash. Steve showed up in a limo teasing Marcy about how rich he was when he wasn't really. Then when Marcy left, the real owner of that limo came out and Steve was the poor Chauffer.....LOL

I remember the first night MWC premiered on FOX TV. For the whole night, the same episode of MWC and "Tracey Ullman Show" would alternate back-to-back the entire night. Fortunately, since I live in NY, one of the independent stations that came in clearly was converted to FOX. I remember clear as day when cute Bud sneaks up behind Kelly while hiding the plant and threatens to kill her!! I prefer the earlier episodes myself, but in the VERY first shows, Peggy and Al were more lovey-dovey...They'd have their argument, and then make up at the end. I didn't like the episodes where has-been sports stars or actors make a cameo appearance.

I remember watching Married With Children when it debuted and I liked the show from the start! It was the complete antithesis of all the other family programs on television at the time (Cosby Show, Family Ties, Growing Pains) and really changed television forever. Yes, the first season is one of the weakest but you can definitely see where the show was heading!

I thought the first episode was good but the shows following it in the first season just were boring and not what i was use to from the characters. In fact the first episode was the first episode i ever saw so i guess it wasnt horribly bad.
