As a fan of Supermarket Sweep I've always wondered why Johnny Gilbert quit Supermarket Sweep as announcer and replaced by Randy West later in the seasons. Did Johnny Gilbert just quit the show for personal reasons or was it for more money or was he gonna be the announcer for another game show? Although Randy West was a fun announcer Johnny Gilbert was really cool for Supermarket Sweep as an announcer

Johnny Gilbert left because his salary as announcer for the show was too expensive for the bean counters at PAX.

Interesting fact about Supermarket Sweep and Johnny Gilbert. I always thought that Johnny Gilbert did double duty for both Jeopardy and Supermarket Sweep and Johnny Gilbert was so funny on Supermarket Sweep with his awesome commentary during the contestants sweeps. Next to David Ruprecht Johnny Gilbert was my second favorite star of Supermarket Sweep and it's awesome that Johnny is still amazing announcing on game shows today
