Post TV Land Schedule from 1996

http://web.archive.org/web/199701142...com/sched.html

Boy their schedule is so different than it is today. I would love to have had TV Land back then.

TV Land was a lot different back then. All the TV shows, except Ed Sullivan were full length versions and the only commercials that TV Land showed were Retromercials. I wish the TV Land of today would bring back The Addams Family and Mister Ed.

Somewhere in my collection I got a tape of the debut of TV Land, which was also aired on Nick at Nite. TV Land WAS so much better back then.

But that is usually the case with so many cable channels. Nick @ Nite for example was so much better say 10 years ago than it is now. And they are not alone..

Fox Family Channel doesnt hold my attention like the old CBN Cable did. Sure Joan Davis, Gale Storm, Burns & Allen may be kinda dated but they were so much fun to watch.

Comedy Central..I remember back in their early days when they aired reruns of Lucy Show, Car 54, Love American Style, even the b/w Candid Camera. Plus Ploce Squad and even CPO Sharkey and That Girl plus Phylis.

Ernie Kovacs and Your Show of Shows both aired in the early days of Comedy Central ( HA !!! before that ). Now-a-days I dont think Comedy Central airs reruns.

TBS was cool back in the 80s but today its no more different than the local UPN channel.

Even AMC has gone downhill, they now even air commericals. And TNN ( in my opinion ) is the pitts since they dropped a lot of their sitcoms and went the Baywatch/ WWF route. Again not that much different than UPN.

I always thought the purpose of cable is to provide entertainment that is different from regular over the air television ( how many stations in your area offer reruns of Friends and Cheers? And Nick and TBS carries them too. Why? )

Guess the cable nets feel "safer" if they showed the same things as broadcast tv. If its true , its a shame.

I miss the old days of cable tv even though "old" wasnt exactly that long ago.

Personally, I think TV Land's schedule is better now, but the cutting bothers me like it does everyone else.

I would have liked to have seen Life of Riley though.
