TV Line: "TV Actors Who 'Disappeared'"
Dennis Franz
When "NYPD Blue" ended in 2005, the veteran actor has not appeared in anything else. Paula Devicq The actress mostly known from "Party of Five" as Kirsten Bennett has appeared in small roles and TV-Movies since. Delta Burke The former "Designing Woman" hasn't popped up on-screen since 2012. Jason Behr Shiri Appleby's "Roswell" leading man was so good in the sci-fi romance that we were sure that he was destined for great things. And make no mistake: He has worked since the series ended in 2002 — just not nearly enough to satisfy us. His most recent television role was on the short-lived A&E series "Breakout Kings" in 2012. Mercedes McNab We would love to see the beloved Buffy/Angel veteran back-in-action. She has stuck to TV guest spots in recent years and appeared in the first 2 Hatchet movies. Rebecca Gayheart This star of late '90s cinema (Urban Legend, Jawbreaker) hasn't had a series regular role since "Vanished" in 2006. Keith Hamilton Cobb An overnight sensation after being cast as Noah on "All My Children" in 1995, the soap hunk hasn't had a regular TV gig since a mid-2000s run on "The Young and the Restless". Nancy McKeon After "The Division" wrapped in 2004, TV appearances by the former "Facts of Life" tomboy have been (too) few and (way too) far between. In more recent years, she recurred as the mother of Demi Lovato's character on "Sonny with a Chance" from 2009-10. Juliet Landau The former "Buffy" star (and daughter of actor Martin Landau) mainly does indie films and voiceover work for video games today. Ana Alicia The "Falcon Crest" alumna has a long-dormant career that we'd love to see get revitalized. Maureen McCormick The former "Brady Bunch" star has mainly stuck with television movies in recent years. Matthew Fox After "Lost", the ABC hit's leading man tried to breakout into feature films (Alex Jones, World War Z) and didn't quite become the success we would have hoped for. Bitty Schram Since being dumped by Monk in 2004, Schram has only added one project to her resumé in 2015. Not acceptable. Tammy Lynn Michaels So indelible was the impression Michaels made as high school glamazon Nicole on Ryan Murphy's "Popular" that we wouldn't be surprised if she inspired Tina Fey's Mean Girls a few years later. What does shock us, on the other hand, is the fact that Michaels hasn't been on TV in 11 years. Lara Flynn Boyle The former "Practice" star has mainly done low-budget flicks in recent years. She deserves more. Marcy Walker Eleven years ago, the Daytime Emmy Award winner left her long-running role of "All My Children's" Liza to become a minister. We would love to see her come back to daytime. Kellie Martin Call us greedy, but the TV movies and guest appearances that the actress has done since finishing her last series-regular gig (ER — 16 years ago!) just haven't been enough. Susan Dey Maybe a 30-plus-year career was simply enough for the "L.A. Law" leading lady, who last appeared in a "Third Watch" two-parter back in 2004. Victoria Principal The erstwhile Pamela Ewing's last gig was the short-lived "Titans" in 2000. She declined an offer to appear in TNT's "Dallas". http://tvline.com/2016/06/28/matthew...here-are-they/ |

Matthew Fox was excellent in the recent horror western outing Bone Tomahawk, doesn't seem to be doing too bad appearing opposite Kurt Russell.

One that wasn't mentioned but should be is Crystal Bernard who has all but vanished post-Wings.

I would say that probably some of these people just retired. Susan Dey just retired and quit the business and refuses to do anything that has to do with The Partridge Family. That and LA Law are the only things I have seen her in, and frankly it would be OK if I never see her in anything again.
I think people just got tired of Delta Burke. I think the public just tires of a performer and wants something else besides her. Actors are a commodity. Nobody really wanted to see Delta Burke ever again forever. Dennis Franz probably retired. He could have worked if he wanted to. He was basically typecast as a cop, only because the dude looks exactly like a cop (or a swindler). Good actor, not much range, probably grateful for his money. Not on the list because he was more of a film actor, but Joe Pesci also completely retired. Probably shining shoes somewhere...... Victoria Principal declined to do the Dallas reboot for some reason, and now hawks her own line of perfume, or jewelry or something along those lines. Gorgeous woman. I nor my family ever watched Dallas so I never really followed her. I am a big Hill Street Blues fan, and I thought Michael Warren was going to be the next big actor and then not that much. Supposedly, Denzel Washington took the spot. I dont get why Denzel Washington should have bearing on Michael Warren. Or Peter Scolari and Tom Hanks on that Bosom Buddy show. Tom Hanks went on to superstardom A List actor in 10-20 top grossing films, while Scolari did Newhart and....what else? I am sure for his profession, Scolari did well for himself, but he was stuck in AAA minors, while Hanks got a Hall of Fame career. I have seen Hanks' performances on television, good work, but not better than other people. What about Julia Duffy? Lastly, I think that television acting is very difficult to break into, with lots and lots of competition, to get on television shows on low rated networks and not getting cancelled, and then the actor maybe getting blamed that the lame show got cancelled, and then going to all these auditions and whatnot with everyone who looks like you. Lots of new shows are to me just a bunch of pretty people in their 20's wearing stylish clothing with not a hair out of place. Too long again...but a lot of child actors leave the business and go to college and do another profession. The girl who played Dee on Whats Happening is now a doctor. I think Tracey Gold from Benson (and she did a lot of stuff) also became a doctor. then there is Myiam Bayliak (sic, from Big Bang Theory) who got a PhD. Christopher Knight from the Bradys is a multimillionaire businessman which has nothing to do with entertainment. Not everyone turned out like Annissa Jones or the Diffrent Strokes kids. Amen to that. |
