What a laugh that last line is-kidnaps his grandkids & threatens to kill them rather than let the parents have them & hides them for 20 years until he gets caught. One assumes he cut off all contact with his sisters & other daughters for those two decades.

I originally thought he had cut off communication with all, but now I don't. Christi/Jennifer ran a marathon race before she was "found" in the same town Debbie's sister lived in, put on by the club the sister was a member at ... all the way across the country from where they were finally found. This family really kept secrets well.

Debbie's name is left out as one of the surviving daughters. That should come as no surprise.

That last line is even less of a surprise. Marvin is indeed looked at by family and friends as a hero because he "saved" two grandchildren from monster parents...while completely abandoning the third grandchild to live a miserable life with said "monster parents." Yep, that's a hero alright. Whatever.

Ever since this case finally got solved and Marvin got that slap on the wrist from the law and the FBI, I've had this belief in the back of my head that if Christi and Bobby ever make an attempt to meet with their parents, it won't be until Marvin has passed away, out of some sort of loyalty to him. I have no proof of that. It's just a guess on my part since they remained close with him up to the end.

But now I'm having my doubts. Marvin and Sandra's other two daughters were in their corner before the kidnapping even took place. They bailed Marvin out of jail and told the media that Debbie was the bad guy in the destruction of their family. If Christi and Bobby even contemplate a reunion, I'm thinking their two aunts will tell them, "Your parents molested children for sport and would have "continued" doing that to you if you were raised by them. Stay away, stay away!"

And those two daughters knew where the Maples and the children were hiding the full 20 years. You'll never convince me otherwise.

"Hero"? Even though he gave those kids a good life, he was terribly wrong in kidnapping them and turning the family against Mark and Debbie. He's probably with Sandra in an unspeakable place, where his sins caught up to him. I wonder if the Baskins will ever have some sort of relationship with their children?

I have a question regarding this case. I recall a scene from one episode where a man that was dressed in a clown mask (or something like that) kidnapped a boy from school, put him in the trunk and drove off. After reaching his destination he let the boy out and they started hugging. Was this the Baskin episode or am I thinking of another one? Thanks in advance.

Definitely not the Baskins. I don't even think that was a UM case.

You're probably right, but I thought for sure it was UM although my details may not be entirely correct.

That sounds as scary as hell! I can't ever recall seeing this on UM. Does anyone else here know?

Sure takes a lot of strength to forgive someone for ruining your life, your own father nonetheless. I applaud Debbie's courage, strength and forgiveness. If only Sandra Maple were still around, so that Debbie could confront her about this 20+ year tragedy that her and Mark have endured. I feel that Sandra instigated most of what she and Marvin put them through and she never got to be punished by our law while here on Earth.

That is really a nice post from Debbie. Very honest and sincere. Makes me even more convinced (not that I was ever not convinced) that she and Mark did not abuse the children. She is a strong lady, I don't know if I could go through that, basically losing 2 entire generations of my family (save for their remaining son) because of one of those family members. She has my respect. I really hope the children come around or at least they (or her sisters) see it. I really wish those kids could learn the truth about what happened and weren't so seemingly brainwashed. It really is a tragedy. Even though they gave them a good life, what Sandra and Marvin did was absolutely unforgivable in my eyes.

That's something that always bothered me about the Baskins case: the third kid. Even though they claim the kids are being horribly abused, the Maples didn't make any effort to get custody of the youngest. What was their justification? Did they go around saying, "These kids were horribly abused by their parents and must not be allowed to live with them, except for their youngest sibling who apparently deserves horrible abuse."
