Heart Bernard would have made a nice boyfriend for Julie!!

Today watching "Going nowhere" with Jay Leno guest starring, I was thinking that Julie and Bernard would make a cute couple together. He totally opened up to her and felt comfortable, and he turned out to be a nice guy just a little troubled. Like Julie! They seem like they could be soulmates. And I wouldn't say he's handsome or anything, but sort of cute. A guy that would be attracted to Julie ! More believable than Greg Evigan or Max! Esp. Max, he just was too good looking to be attracted to her. Plus they really had zero in common! At least Doug/Greg and her had the music in common!

So, does anyone else agree, that Bernard would have made a good boyfriend, possible husband for Julie? And Jay Leno would be a really fun addition to the cast!

But than WOW, my Michael might have not ever had the job on ODAAT! And that wouldn't be good! Unless they brought him in too down the line as a whole other character, not Julie's husband!

This is where you bring him in for Barbara. Or Ann. Is it weird he could have played both ages?

Yeah , I'm trying to think of a part Michael could have played had he not been casted as Julie's husband? For Ann? IDK would it really be believable that he would be attracted to her?

And what did you think of Julie and Bernard as a romantic match up?

It's really ingrained in us that she's the mother in law and he's much younger, so it's hard to picture, but she was really only 4 years older. I think they could have done it.

Julie would have steamrolled Bernard. At least Max fought back.

No .That's not my point! It wouldn't be a problem if she were older than him. Even more than four years if they still wanted him portrayed as a man younger than his real age. My point is, Is she ATTRACTIVE enough for him? Maybe in the first few seasons it would work. But the later seasons when she had the short conservative hair and business clothes. I don't see him attracted to a woman like that! Unless they played down his looks .Put glasses on him, instead of the beautiful thick ,nicely styled 70's-80's hair, give him a short conservative style, maybe have him be a nerdy intellect or something ,that would go for a plain, conservative looking woman like her! Ann does have a good body, as we saw when Sam and her were in the South Pacific , but it's hidden in the God awful conservative wardrobe she wears! But still her face isn't that great , and the haircut in the later seasons did NOTHING to enchance her looks for the better!

I think you're slightly overselling Mike there , and underselling Bonnie F a bit , but putting that aside, don't you want to see him marry Ann, she leaves him for a job in London, and he kisses Barbara?

Yeah! How about if he starts out nerdy and not stylish looking and Barbara talks him into a makeover ? Just very innocent, after all he's her Mother's husband, like a step father sort of! He gets contact lenses, grows his hair out all cool, gets new fashionable clothes. And he gets some swagger cause he feels he looks hipper!! Barbara takes notice that Hmm, he really is pretty hot now! He senses that Barbara feels that way, and kisses her and oh the guilt!!!!! It's her Mother' s husband for crying out loud!!! But she can't deny that he curled her toes!
