In the game show world I'm noticing that game shows are trying to change their image and not only that it seems that game shows involving trivia and big money prizes are no longer being made and it seems shocking to me that trivia based game shows are going out of fashion and I would like to know why this is? Is it because people of this generation are interested in game show based apps and video games rather than watching the game shows? Or is it because game shows are trying to get an updated image to earn more fans? Take for example when CBS debuted Let's Make A Deal I LOVED it at first but now it seems that Let's Make A Deal has lost it's luster which is why I see it occasionally now. A second thing i've noticed about game shows that I find surprising is that I have been seeing a lot of celebrity based game shows and game shows that are word games. Because ever since Celebrity Name Game came out and with the debut of the new remake of Celebrity Family Feud it seems that celebrity game shows are now becoming huge successes in TV
Do you think that game shows are gaining a new image and do you think that trivia based game shows will make a comeback to TV soon? Bestie |

A very good question indeed. I suppose because Jeopardy! is the mainstay of trivia games, and throw in Millionaire as well with a Q&A type format, I suspect the powers that be would be concerned about yet another Q&A type game right now being a bit redundant. Family Feud, as little as I like it anymore and as little as I watch it anymore, is based on surveys. Wheel is a word game, Price is Right a price game, Deal is a game of chance and intuition. So no, I don't think we'll see more trivia type Q&A games re-appearing anytime soon. Partly this is due too to the "dumbing" down of America sadly.

A trivia based game show I would recommend is 500 Questions. Its second season premieres tonight on ABC. It will be a five night event: Thursday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00-10:00, Friday and Saturday from 8:00-9:00 eastern. off Sunday and Monday. The first contestant on tonight's episode will be Ken Jennings from Jeopardy!
