Best of Saturday Night Live used to air at 10 and/or 10:30 PM Eastern.
I think it aired on Thursdays in the late 1970's and/or early 1980's.
The only problem was the time slot, but I talked my way out of that.
It had nothing to do with content, like SNL being R rated in its present form.

Paul Hogan and Benny Hill, although I was allowed to watch them, were controversial in my market, and people would write the TV station and complain and the TV station would make a promo of the show and read the letter and say more or less,we don't care. This was before FOX, so it was an independent station that could do as they wished, even breaking FCC rules and airing unedited R Movies. It was so much better back then, before they became the FOX affiliate.

Oh No

I couldn't watch Roseanne, Ren and Stimpy, and The Simpsons when I was growing up.

I still don't, I can't get into Roseanne or Ren and Stimpy even to today and I was into watching The Simpsons, but since they've been on for sooooo damn long...I stopped watching that show!

The shows I chose NOT to watch are...

Trash Talk Shows like Jerry Springer and Maury...I even got the "watch it, you'll love it" concept!
Reality Shows like Survivor and The Kardashians
Modern Sitcoms like HIMYM and TBBT
Spongebob Squarepants
Elmo's World...originally known as Sesame Street
Mad TV

That's all I can think of.

The only 2 I remember not being allowed to watch were "The Simpsons" and "Roseanne".

My parents never forbade me from watching any shows when I was a kid.

As a kid, shows that I didn't like/couldn't get into:

Any of the daytime soaps one of my sister's watched.
Little House On The Prairie
Dallas
Knots Landing
Dynasty

The only show I remember not being allowed to watch was The Three Stooges because they constantly hit each other.
