Sammy/Danny Wheeler & Bob Bean UPDATE

Lades and gents, this evening I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with Danny Wheeler. Not only is he a sweet, unassuming gentleman, he provided me with the following updates:

1. The murderer who killed his brother Sammy Wheeler was convicted and serving a prison sentence of life + 7 years.
2. He is working on a manuscript which details his brother's life, as well as the case, LE fumbles, good LE officials who helped solve and close the case, and how this has impacted the Wheeler family.
3. He expressed to me that his brother, Sammy was a really great, upstanding guy, a graduate of Virginia Tech, and just a wonderful brother, with whom he was very close to. The way he spoke of Sammy truly touched me.
4. And last but certainly not least....BOB BEAN actually helped crack the case. Danny and Bob are now friendly. Danny is VERY grateful for Bob helping to bring his brother's murderer to justice. I find this the cherry on top of this whole story.

Danny and I will speak again soon; I am going to help him with his manuscript.

If you have any questions for him, feel free to ask here. He is not interested on being online at the moment (hopefully I can talk hm out of that), but I told him about this site and how many fans he has and he was very touched by that.

1. Why did Bob Bean hate his brother so much?


2. Did Bob Bean really believe Danny or Pat Snead could have killed Sammy Wheeler? Or was he just BSing?

3. What exactly did Bean do to help catch Sammy's killer?

4. How does Danny feel about his Michael Jordan quote all these years later?

Sammy and Pat Snead met and started dating while she was married to Bob Bean. Bean wanted full custody of the kids, and Sammy and Pat wanted full custody of the kids. Danny does not believe Bob Bean was still in love with Pat Snead.


2. Did Bob Bean really believe Danny or Pat Snead could have killed Sammy Wheeler? Or was he just BSing?
Yes, Danny does believe that Bob Bean suspected Pat Snead and Danny Wheeler killed Sammy Wheeler - at one time. But obviously, he no longer does

3. What exactly did Bean do to help catch Sammy's killer?
Danny Wheeler's family paid a private investigator who interviewed Bob Bean. Thomas Kirk Bell (the one who was with Mr. Price, the convicted murderer of Sammy Wheeler and was there the night Sammy was murdered) - was at Bob Bean's associate's house one night and in a drunken state, bragged to this associate (of Bob Bean's) that he was there the night Sammy Wheeler was murdered and that Price was the shooter. They found multiple shell cases at the scene indicating that they meant to kill Sammy, and not that it was a random accidental shooting, as many have speculated.

Bob Bean then relayed this information to the private investigator, who in turn relayed the information to Law Enforcement; ultimately a conviction was made, due to Bob Bean's tip.

4. How does Danny feel about his Michael Jordan quote all these years later?
Danny's ok with it, and in retrospect, finds it quite funny. He was very angry at the time and believed Bob Bean was responsible for the murder of his brother. Danny also said that when UM interviewed him that another quote he 'threw out there' was: 'Sure, sure...and Racquel Welch is going to be in bed with me tonight!' That part was apparently edited out.

I'm trying to get him to join this board and thread. He has a lot more to tell, and it's better done by him than me.

Bob Bean clearly didn't like the Wheelers though. He wanted Danny Wheeler to not live with Pat and his kids and looks like he tried to coach his kids against Pat Snead. What exactly was his deal back then?
