What types of segments would you like to see on a potential revival?

I apologize in advance for creating the approximately 80 millionth thread on a UM revival, but a thought just occurred to me.

I'm not sure Lost Loves segments would really work nowadays. Since computers and the internet have took off since UM last made new episodes, it's a lot easier to find people nowadays through social media and such. And let's just face facts, I think most of us would get bored with these segments quickly anyways.

I also think the subjects of paranormal (UFO's, ghosts and the like) have been saturated on t.v. in recent times with shows like Ancient Aliens, The Haunting Of.. and others.

Therefore, would you be comfortable with a new UM focusing on just unexplained deaths, missing persons, wanted and the like? I know I would. I'd be ready for it and would hope they did a good mix of cases from the recent and the past, and from all over.

I definitely agree with your thoughts on the Lost Loves cases. You can't watch those segments today without wondering how quickly they might have been solved just by typing the person's name into Facebook.

One interesting difference I could see in an UM revival today would be them working in conjunction with the Doe Network to do more segments on unidentified decedents. They only did a handful of these segments back in the day (Little Miss Panasoffkee, Dana Point Jane Doe, etc.), but in recent years, we've so many of these cold cases get solved via the Internet because someone came across a composite sketch of an unidentified person and thought it looked like someone they used to know. There's never really been a true crime show that focused that much on John and Jane Does, but I think UM could do a lot of good if they focused more on that angle.

Good call. They'd probably want to issue a disclaimer beforehand as a lot of those pictures are unsettling to look at.

The Grateful Dead Unidentified now Identified 20 years later as Jason Callahan is a perfect example.

I'd like to see a remake of some of the unsolved cases but also more unsolved serial killer cases and perhaps try to connect cold cases to perps already incarcerated like we saw in the past. Every time I see a truck driver serial killer I think of the Ohio segment and am terrified of how many unsolved murders there are.

I totally agree. Just focus unexplained deaths, missing persons, wanted, and a sprinkle of fraud.

When you say revival do you mean the cases shown the same way the were shown before or re enacted in a 2016 way?

I think he meant "revival" only in the general sense: Going back into production. However, if it involved doing the show in a way that makes it look far different from its 1987-2002 run, then it would be more of a remake than a legitimate revival.

Well that is my biggest wish!! All UM ever say is we are waiting for a company to pick the show up....

I know that when Phillip Seymour Hoffman died, they were able to create his character in Mockingjay: Part 2 from previous footage and CGI imaging.

Just wondering if they could potentially resurrect Robert Stack using the same methods. Then we wouldn't have an argument about who the best host would be....

If they were to do that, there would be a lot of backlash. It would be disrespectful to Stack's surviving loved ones, and critics would likely accuse the show of exploiting or trivializing Stack's death.

Whether we like it or not, they have no say on whether the show gets picked up. A network or syndicator has to make that call. But if you want the show back in production in the worst way, then start a letter writing campaign. In fact, I would suggest creating a web site or Facebook page specifically for such a task and would list an assortment of networks to write to and letter writing tips.

I totally respect your point, but I wouldn't see it that way at all. To me, it would be honoring the one host who gave the show the justice it deserved.

But. Your point is completely well taken. I can see where some would find it offensive.

There is an online petition on another UM page the thing is i'm overseas so i think someone in USA would be better to write letters
