If you watch the video at the link above, you can hear how it is mastered a bit too slow. Most episodes I remember had the song ("221B Baker Street") playing in the correct tone of G minor, but this video shows it to be pitched down to almost F minor. What I do know is that this series was U.K.-originated, and we Americans first saw this series on PBS. In the U.K. their films run at 25 fps whereas here it is 23.976 fps. We are referring to the Granada TV-produced series, called The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes from 1984-85 (of which the opening title in the video is from), The Return of Sherlock Holmes from 1986-88, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes from 1991-93, and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes in 1994. These are also the years Jeremy Brett (1933-1995) played the character. Does anyone else have this pitch problem with their R1 Sherlock Holmes (the Granada series) DVDs? ~Ben |
