Music All 12 of Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' Tracks Debut on Billboard Hot 100

All 12 of Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' Tracks Debut on Billboard Hot 100
by Amaya Mendizabal, Billboard
5/2/16

As previously reported, Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' soars onto the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated May 14), taking the No. 1 spot with 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28, according to Nielsen Music.

The set also crowns the sales-based Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with 485,000 in pure album sales, granting the superstar her sixth No. 1 on both charts.

The release of the album additionally spurs all 12 of its tracks to debut on the Billboard Hot 100, while all 12 also appear on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (with 11 debuting), powered by mostly by sales and streams.

With her Hot 100 entrances, Beyoncé makes history: It's the first time that a female act has charted 12 or more songs on the Hot 100 at the same time, surpassing Taylor Swift's previous record of 11 (set on Nov. 13, 2010, sparked by the release of her album 'Speak Now').

On Dec. 5, 2015, Justin Bieber bested Drake and The Beatles for the one-week record among all acts: 17 songs on the Hot 100 simultaneously, as his album 'Purpose' debuted atop the Billboard 200.

'Formation,' originally released Feb. 6, preceding her Super Bowl 50 halftime show performance of the track the following day, leads her parade of debuts with points stemming from 174,000 in digital sales (the most of any of the album's tracks) and 6.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending April 28.

While 'Formation' charts on the Hot 100 for the first time, it re-enters the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 6; it had previously peaked at No. 33 (March 19) based only on its performance at radio.

Of the newly released 'Lemonade' songs (i.e., all except 'Formation'), 'Sorry' was streamed the most in the tracking week, logging 14.2 million U.S. streams, while 'Hold Up' racked up the highest sales: 123,000 downloads in its first week. The sultry '6 Inch', featuring The Weeknd, starts with the third-highest weekly domestic streams (12.2 million) and sales (99,000).

Beyoncé on Hot 100 (all debuts):

Position, Title
No. 10, "Formation"
No. 11, "Sorry"
No. 13, "Hold Up"
No. 18, "6 Inch," featuring The Weeknd
No. 28, "Don't Hurt Yourself," featuring Jack White
No. 35, "Freedom," featuring Kendrick Lamar
No. 37, "Pray You Catch Me"
No. 38, "All Night"
No. 41, "Daddy Lessons"
No. 43, "Sandcastles"
No. 47, "Love Drought"
No. 63, "Forward," featuring James Blake

Beyoncé on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs:

Meanwhile, with four top 10s on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Beyoncé becomes the only woman to earn that many concurrent top 10s. She ties the all-time record, previously set by Drake, Eminem, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent.

The following are her one re-entry and 11 debuts on the chart this week.

Position, Title
No. 6, "Formation" (re-entry, new peak)
No. 7, "Sorry"
No. 8, "Hold Up"
No. 10, "6 Inch," featuring The Weeknd
No. 16, "Don't Hurt Yourself," featuring Jack White
No. 21, "Freedom," featuring Kendrick Lamar
No. 22, "Pray You Catch Me"
No. 23, "All Night"
No. 26, "Daddy Lessons"
No. 27, "Sandcastles"
No. 28, "Love Drought"
No. 30, "Forward" featuring James Blake

The rollout of 'Lemonade' was led by the April 23 premiere of the visual film of the same name on HBO, immediately followed by the exclusive release of the bundled album (12 songs and the film) to Tidal.

The set went on sale through other digital retailers April 25, while Tidal continues to hold the exclusivity for streaming. Physical copies of 'Lemonade' will be available on Friday.

All charts will update Tuesday on Billboard.com.

For me it died long before 2016. With the exception of a very few songs from the early 90's, I rarely listen to anything released after 1989.

Oh No

Wow. ALL twelve tracks by Beyonce appeared on Billbored's sHot 100. I guess that means, like, she's the greatest thing since sliced Velveeta. Maybe almost as nutritious.

The only "Formation" I care to hear about is "The Formation Of Damnation" by Testament, which came out in 2008/2009.

Oh No

...

Next Beyonce will say she's Bigger than The Beatles! I now wish that any song on Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The White Album, Let It Be, or Abbey Road would have all their songs on the Billboard Top 100!

Music Is Officially Pronounced Dead!

And how many rappers and r & b artists have claimed, or have been claimed, to be bigger than The Beatles? Quite a few, as I recall. I remember when Mariah Carey had such a dubious distinction a few years ago with her singles.

If it hasn't been claimed, it certainly has been more than implied.

This is because the Rap and Hip-Hop hoodlums/hooligans have been allowed to take over Billboard and the pop music industry. It's been like this for the past 25 years or so. Beyonce is garbage.
