Lightbulb "Golden Girls", "Designing Women Women", and FOL are sister shows

I was just readin' the Lifetime thread that Chris started below, and it just amazes me that some people can either love/hate GG, and then love/hate DW, and I know lots of people love/hate FOL---but rarely do people seem to love or hate all 3!

Personally, I really enjoy all 3 of 'em, and love 'em ('cept I don't go much for the newer DW). And if you look at the characters, they're all from the same molds! So it just baffles me even more why some people adore 1 of these shows yet can't stand the other 2 (or love 2, hate 1, whatever...). I mean, think about it...we have, from GG, DW, and FOL, respectively:

Blanche, Suzanne, Blair---vain, self-centered, man-crazy, utter femininity

Dorothy, Julia, Jo---strong-willed, more "masculine", don't put up with crap

Rose, Charlene, Tootie---innocent, naive, more about the heart and emotions

Sophia, Mary Jo, Natalie---sarcastic, the "funny" one, sharp tongue

Have any of y'all ever thought about that? It crosses my mind a lot. Now, I am not sayin' that these characters are in any way interchangeable---certainly they are not. But the basic mold structure seems to be the same. Hence, my baffledness at some people's taste and distate in this trio of shows.

I guess I just wish everybody loved all these shows cause I do, and the humor makes me feel so good. But I guess unfortunately not everyone can be like me! lol

Well, whichever of these shows you enjoy, keep on laughin'! And if your mind is so sitcom-oriented that you find yourself thinkin' up character-show crossover theories like this one, well, then you have a li'l idea of what it's like to live in my head . . .

lol, I think about that all the time..... it seems like they were all around in the late 80's. DW and GG didn't start 'till about '86 I think. But anyways yes!!! That's why I love all 3 so much!! Great shows!

Cool

I personally don't care for any of the three, but that's just my opinion

I think that Taxi, Cheers, and Wings have a lot in common. I love all three of those shows. Frasier comes from the same people who created Cheers and Wings, but I never cared for that show.

I love FOL and GG but I cant stand Designing Women. Dixie Carter is sooooo annoying.... she's also annoying on Diff'rent Strokes... thankfully they got a new Maggie though.

I agree. I also love The Golden Girls and The Facts of Life but I just can't stand Designing Women. However, my dislike for that show has nothing to do with Dixie Carter. In fact she's the only good thing about that show.

I love the show! But I do agree Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook are the only ones that make the show worth watching!

I can just imagine if Blair ever met Blanche!

Or if Blanche ever showed up at the Sugarbaker House (Even though I don't like DW at all) and then they would see who was the most southern!

And Kim Fields did make an appearance on The Golden Palace once!

I love the Facts Of Life and the Golden Girls but I never liked Designing women. I really never got the humor in that show I thought it was extremely lame and the jokes were just awful.

See? It just totally amazes me that all of these characters have such strong similarities, yet almost no one enjoys all 3 shows!

Very, very odd...makes me wanna do a psychological essay on it or somethin'...

I love the Golden Girls. FOL is okay. But when I watch Designing women, it REALLY reminds me that they did it in the 80's. When I watch the other two, I don't get that feeling. Maybe it's just me.

I can see a connection between GG and DW, but not FOL really.
