Poor Buttercup!!! He was too old to pull a vegetable cart anymore, and it looked like his days were numbered!
So glad Shirley and Laverne took him in and saw to it that he ended up in good hands!!! Such a cute ep. and I loved the reference to Mr. Ed at the end. That was so cool! ![]() |

I loved it too! Showed how Shirley is kind to all animals and nobody wanted to see him turned into glue ): Poor horses. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't happen anymore, right?

No! Not anymore. So horribly inhumane! Buttercup was so cute. Perfect name for him!

^It really is. And Thank God that doesn't happen anymore. That is so sad. But the dialogue between L&S was perfect:
Shirley: "Where do you think the glue comes from?" Laverne: "The five & dime." Shirley: "Where do they get it?" Laverne: "The factory." Shirley: "And where do they get it?" And Laverne looks at the horse. It was kinda funny, but heartbreaking at the same time. They were both experts at comedy IMO. |

Wow, it's hard to believe that horses and donkeys used to pull fruit & vegetable carts, and milk carts too in this country. Even in the cities! My Mom used to tell me when she was a kid it was very common place, and that was in Philadelphia!
