I just wanted to say that I am changing my attitude about sitcoms, specifically sitcoms I don’t like. In the past I would speak ill of certain sitcoms I don’t like. I would more than speak ill though. I would feel hatred of those shows. I’ve decided to let that hatred go. It’s stupid to feel hatred for a TV show. And I have to say, since making this decision, I feel kind of free in a sense. I’m even planning on buying the complete series of “WKRP in Cincinnati” next week. I already own “Sanford and Son” and I’m gonna watch some of those episodes. I’m even thinking about purchasing the complete series of “The Nanny” and giving it a fair chance. Maybe even “George Lopez”. Of course this is all money willing. I’m not just going to go broke for these shows, lol.
I imagine my bitterness towards some shows come from them basically competing with one another, either for a time slot or for your attention so they can stay on the air as long as they want. So when I fall in love with a show like “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” and it’s cancelled TWICE, leaving a whopping total 19 episodes and then another show like “Two and a Half Men” which I never thought was funny gets to stay on for twelve seasons, it bothers me. Or when other people put down shows I love, while they boast shows I don’t like, that irks me, too.But like I say as of this point, I’m letting that go. Shows are shows. Sitcoms are entertainment. They’re all meant to make you laugh… and that’s a pretty good thing! |

Good for you! I've recently been hating shows like "Friends", "Seinfeld", "The Cosby Show", "Full House" and such but I've decided to let it go and give these shows a fair chance. I also don't particularly care for shows like "That '70s Show", "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The Big Bang Theory" but I might even give THEM a fair shake. Like you said, shows are shows. All they are is meant for our entertainment.

A few years ago I gave The Nanny a chance and don't hate it anymore. It's not a show I want to watch over and over again. The supporting cast (Niles and CC) are funny, funnier than the 2 main characters.

I admit I never thought I'd like Modern Family. I thought at first it was very annoying and quite honestly I never really watched anything else with Ed O'Neill in it since Married...With Children. One day I started watching it probably because I saw Sofia Vergara but I was impressed with the syndication shows then I started watching it more on Wednesday's. Now I love it and can't miss an episode

I have to say that I thought I was going to hate Murphy Brown. Bought season 1 and watched an episode and was hooked. Ever since then, I learned to give sitcoms a chance before totally dismissing it.
P.S.- The same situation occurred with Married With Children |

^People automatically think "Murphy Brown" is all about politics....BIG MISTAKE.
If people would stop putting it in that political box and just watch the show then they'd see it's a very smart comedy. |

I like That '70s Show even though I avoided it for a long time because Ashton Kutcher annoyed me. But I really got to like it and even his character, Kelso, is funny to me. I love the relationship between Eric and Donna. It's just a fun show to watch (to me anyway). And I've given my opinions of Malcolm and Big Bang in the other thread. |

Not sitcoms (technically), but do you like The Carol Burnett Show and Looney Tunes?
