The afterschool specials
Seeing the thread about the weekend specials made me think of these. I watched these all the time, I think they came on on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 on ABC. I got off school at 3pm, would change, get a snack and sit down and watch. I liked many and a few were actually required viewing. I remember one I had to watch called Are You Ashamed Of Your Parents? about this girl (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who has to go this rich family's house for the summer because her mother (Marion Ross)got a job as a cook. She finds out the girl is just like her, only that it's not as it appears because she wasn't originally rich and her dad was actually her stepfather (and really not nice to her). I just found this on YouTube. I remember liking this a lot because I really wanted to be rich. I believe CBS and NBC had specials too but not as many and for as long.
