Default I lost two friends in 5 months because of trying to be funny over text and voicemail

So I learn from my mistakes and effective April of 2016, I will not have a texting conversation ever again. My limit now is send one text a day and send one response a day. If I call someone and the voicemail comes on, don't leave **** just hang up the phone.

All my communication now will be face to face or telephone as i move forward. I must learn from this experience.

I hope things in the future can change with your two friends.

I know that with leaving a voicemail, things can be taken entirely different than how it was meant or spoken. It can also cut you off if the allot time runs out

On text messages, the "great" autocorrect can change the spelling of words, which can change the entire message being sent. I don't know if it does this without the senders knowledge or not. I don't own a cell phone, so I don't send texts.

I don't like "Social Media" for the same reasons.

Twiter you are limited to a certain number of chacarters

Facebook has cause a great deal of problems for many people.

Even on here things can be read differently than how it was meant to be posted.

Friend 1........I sent a text trying to make her laugh and when she responded with...."wrong person". My dumb ass said......"well F*Ck you then"

All she said was wrong person and it was no need for me to send that

Friend 2........I refer her to a job search center because she is unemployed and when I didn't hear from her in 3 days I called her and when I got the voicemail I said

"I havent heard from you and now I have to act like my mom........"Did you go to the got damm job center I referred to?"

I said it in a joking way but maybe it didn;t sound like that to her

Those remarks are very rude. I would get mad if a friend of mine spoke to me that way even if it was meant to be funny! Clean up your mouth and think before you respond and maybe you will keep more friends.I notice that you often blame others for your problems. Point that finger back at yourself!

You need to work on your manners.
It's not a texting thing or a voice mail thing. It's you and your bad manners.

I agree about Friend 1. But I was using a joking tone when I left the message for Friend 2. I was not serious at all

Those are things that wouldn't bother your male friends if you said that to them but women are more sensitive, so you have to be more careful around them. It's just the way it is. You can't say certain things to women that you can say to other men. When it comes to women if you aren't just being straightforward polite to them 100% of the time it can have disastrous consequences.

My advice is don't worry about it. If these people were true friends of yours, they would have known how you are and not get upset and knew you were joking.

Having said that, I realize that printed/typed words can sometimes be misinterpreted or misunderstood. That's why I don't like this texting nonsense. I don't own a cell phone or any garbage mobile device that allows texting. Old school land line phone is good enough for me.

Yes. I wrote things yesterday at this very board that got me yelled at, even though I meant them innocently. So I agree.

That was rude actually. I would be offended if someone said that to me.

Friend 2, you should have said that to her personally but in another way. I hate when people get on my case about things. It's not your business if she went to the job center or not. Actually that reminds me of my nasty rude aunt. She would send me dumb jobs that I would never work at (I mean seriously a cashier at a store when I have a MA?)then would get on my case because I was unemployed and I didn't want those jobs. She's a psycho actually and was a busy body. That sounds like what you are doing.

I was helping her and she agreed to go to the place I recommended and asked for the address. So that's why I was confused when I never heard how she made out

Simple. Because you don't take it seriously when you make unnecessary jokes to your friends that decide not to be your friend anymore.
I agree with other users about those, and maybe next time try to be nice and be careful what you say to other people
