The network on Thursday announced that it’s developing a spinoff of "Young & Hungry", which will follow Ashley Tisdale‘s spunky lesbian character as she sets out on a new, to-be-determined path. In addition to executive-producing "Young & Hungry", Tisdale has also appeared in two episodes.

Steve Talley (Pretty Little Liars) has been cast as the male lead opposite Ashley Tisdale and Aimee Carrero in Freeform’s "Young & Hungry" spin-off, now in the works.

The project, which will be titled "Young & Sofia", will be introduced as a planned spin-off in the eighth episode of "Young & Hungry‘s" current fourth season. Also guest starring in that episode with an option to be a series regular on the potential spin-off is Ryan Pinkston, who recently co-starred alongside Tisdale on the TBS comedy series "Clipped".





In "Young & Sofia", Carrero reprises her co-starring role from the original series, Sofia Rodriguez, an ambitious banking intern and best friend and roommate to Gabi (Emily Osment). The proposed spin-off will follow Sofia (Carrero) as she lands a job working for an overbearing boss at Click’d Media, Logan Rawlings, the magazine editor/lesbian character Tisdale originated in two guest starring appearances on "Young & Hungry", which she executive produces, along with the spin-off.

Talley plays Kendrick, a super-hot, sexy and masculine journalist with Click’d Media, poached from The New York Times, whom Sofia is immediately intrigued by.

Pinkston plays Leo. Insecure and brash, energetic with a self-deprecating wit, he is the pop culture editor at Click’d Media and competitive with Kendrick. He immediately spots Sofia as Logan’s next interviewee and is impressed by her easy chutzpah.

"Young & Hungry" Spin-off Not Going Forward at Freeform

Freeform has opted not to proceed with its planned "Young & Hungry" spinoff toplined by Ashley Tisdale and Aimee Carrero.

The multi-camera comedy project, titled "Young & Sofia", was ordered as a planted spinoff pilot, which aired as the eighth episode of "Young & Hungry‘s" most recent fourth season.



In "Young & Sofia", Carrero reprises her co-starring role from the original series, Sofia Rodriguez, an ambitious banking intern and best friend and roommate to Gabi (Emily Osment).

The proposed spinoff was to follow Sofia (Carrero) as she lands a job working for an overbearing boss at Click’d Media, Logan Rawlings, the magazine editor/lesbian character Tisdale originated in two guest starring appearances on "Young & Hungry", which she executive produces.



While the spinoff is not happening, the mothership "Young & Hungry" is moving on. Its fifth season is set to debut on March 13, leading to the Season 6 premiere of "Baby Daddy".

Joining next season is comedy legend Betty White, who will guest star as neighbor Ms. Wilson.

i honestly thought they had cancelled Young & Hungry after that retrospective episode and then going off the air for like 14 months...

wasn't that last "season" only like 4 episodes anyways?
