Default Is it just me or is this sad?

Last Friday, my parents went out to eat at this restaurant and when they pulled into the parking lot, there were these two little boys - one was about 4 years old and the other was about 6 years old - sitting in the back of a car in freezing cold weather, hungry, and crying their eyes out... while their parents were inside eating dinner! Their parents were talking to people inside the restaurant saying that the kids were misbehaving so their punishment was sitting in the car and not getting fed. When my mom and dad told me about this, I could have just cried! That is the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard. Can you just picture two little boys, cold and hungry, bawling their eyes out while their parents were enjoying a nice warm meal? I'm sorry, but despite what those kids did, making them go without food and freeze in a car and cry their eyes out is no way to punish them. They didn't deserve that at all!

What do you think?

Well, it depends what the kids did. If you ask me, kids these days don't get enough dicipline. If locking them in the car is the only way to teach 'em a lesson then so be it.

Thats really sad and very mean of the parents. I find it sickening that parents would do that. You do not leave young boys in a cold car while you go in and eat! And they could have been kidnapped.. even if the car was locked some freak could see those kids and break out the window to get them. Not feeding a child as a punishment is something I'm never going to do when I have kids. Thats just gross. It's sad the kind of parents a lot of kids have.

It's illegal in any state to leave 4 and 6 year olds unattended anywhere, even at home. It's dangerous. Someone should have reported those morons to the authorities. I would have called the police.

That's just messed!!!! Even if the kids did something really bad, I just can't see how a parent could do that to their children.

that's child abuse....it IS sad...no child deserves abuse. no matter what the children did. the children are kids...they don't know better. but the parents, should and do know better. i mean, if u were gonna leave ur kids in there the least you could do is like leave the heater on for them....u don't want em to get a cold or anything...but, that was sad. the situation, what the parents did, and picturing two little helpless, defensless boys sitting in the car freezing...

That's sad. Somethin like this happened here in MD. My aunt and cuz's were coming out of a movie theatre and they heard a car alarm and saw someone moving around in a car. So they went over to the car and their was a little girl inside. It was burning up outside and she could have died if my aunt didn't come over. So, NEwayzie, they were able to get the girl out and she wet herself on my cuz, Andy. The sick part is, the father was inside watching X-Men with his son and his son's friend. Even worse, he only got like a $100 fine. Freakiness...

Thumbs down

That's just cruel and unusual punishment! Especially for kids that young.

Some people just shouldn't be parents. Yes, children do act bad- pull them aside and scold them or pop them once. Just because you pop your kids once doesn't mean you abuse children 24/7. Locking them in cars does make you a child abuser.

When parents go out to dinner with their young children, and the children act up then the parents should be prepared to leave the restaraunt with the children. Life with young children takes on different responsibilties. Expect to face them everyday. Don't expect children to know how to act the way you think they should at all times. Be sure that the kids understand that the fun dinner you were all about to have has been lost due to their behavior. Maybe next time they'll remember that and behave better. To TORTURE the young children by leaving them cold, scared and alone is dangerous, and a gross neglect of parental duties.

I concur and agree 100% with kittflynn on this subject.
Either cancel the dinner right away and walk out of the restruant
or else take the kids aside and give them a little scolding and
make them to promise they will behave and if it happens again
THEN get up walk out the door and go home and make the
kids go to bed without anything to eat. That's how most of us
were treated when we misbehaved when we were kids.I guess
some parents these days don't have any comonsense when it
comes to discipline.
