I don't think the writers of today can be nearly as funny... They probably would make a bad s*x joke every two minutes.

The humor on TDVDS came from the relationships between the characters. They would have almost an impossible time putting together a cast that had anywhere near the chemistry of the original cast. And no one but Carl Reiner could write the script (perhaps with an assist from Persky and Denhoff) and he probably wouldn't be interested or motivated to do so.
