Default 5 Shows HBO SHOULD Bring Back to its Television Network

Hello Everyone,

As many of you are aware, in lieu of Garry Shandling's death last Thursday at age 66 (according to TMZ of a Massive Heart Attack), The HBO Television Network is bringing back "The Larry Sanders Show" reruns both to TV and HBO's Streaming Platforms.

That being said, here's a personal opinion of 10 Classic HBO Television Network shows HBO should bring back, both to TV and HBO Go as well as HBO Now.

1. Dream On -- Created by John Landis, "Dream On" lasted for 8 seasons on HBO from July 8, 1990 - March 27, 1996 and 120 half-hour episodes in a successful 6-year run. The show centered on Martin Tupper (Brian Benben), a 32-year-old recently divorced New York City book editor who shared custody with ex-wife Judith (Wendie Malick) of their teenage son Jeremy (Chris Demetral). Eddie Charles (Dorien Wilson), a locally successful talk-show host, served as Martin's best friend whom Jeremy referred to as "Uncle Eddie" on the show, while Toby Pedalbee (Denny Dillon) served as Martin's secretary and Gibby Fiske (Michael McKean) served as Martin's employer. John Landis conceived and created the idea for "Dream On" based on the idea of having Black-and-White Film Clips from the Universal Pictures library (Universal being where John Landis had a film development deal that made most of his movies) used as his lead character's thoughts. John eventually hired the future creators of TV's "Friends" (Marta Kauffman, David Crane & Kevin Bright) to write a pilot script for him and help him pitch the concept to execs at Universal Studios Television, which greenlit the show, with the HBO Television Network picking up the series to air soon afterwards. "Dream On" was produced by Bright Kauffman Crane Productions for Universal Television.

2. Fraggle Rock -- Created by Jim Henson, "Fraggle Rock" originally aired on HBO from January 10, 1983 - March 30, 1987 after having earlier debuted on CBC in Canada since Fall 1982. The show centered on a group of creatures known as Fraggles who loved to play, dance, and sing all day long -- among them Gobo (Jerry Nelson), Mokey (Kathy Mullen), Wembley (Steve Whitmire), Boober (Dave Goelz) and Red (Karen Prell). Frequently seen were Gorgs, who hated Fraggles -- most notably Junior Gorg (Richard Hunt). Living above the Fraggles was inventor Jerome "Doc" Christian (Irish actor Gerry Parkes) and his dog, Sprocket (also played by Steve Whitmire). "Fraggle Rock" was produced on behalf of HBO by Henson Associates, Inc. Productions.

3. Not Necessarily the News -- This Satirical HBO series was HBO's 1st Original Situation Comedy, airing on HBO from September 26, 1982 - August 28, 1990. Among the stars of the show included Stuart Pankin, Annie Bloom, Tom Parks, Mitchell Laurance and Rich Hall.

4. The Pee Wee Herman Show -- The ORIGINAL HBO Pee-Wee Special that spawned CBS's "Pee Wee's Playhouse," "The Pee Wee Herman Show" was a Kids' Show for Grown-Ups created by Paul Reubens, who cast himself as his alter-ego Pee Wee Herman, along with several other actors and characters who joined Paul on "Pee Wee's Playhouse," including Molly the Mail Lady, Phil Hartman, Miss Yvonne and many others. As a struggling actor, Paul Reubens (who shortened his name from Paul Rubenfeld) conceived the character of Pee Wee Herman while a member of Improv's The Groundlings.

5. Real Sex -- An award-winning Documentary Series from HBO.
