buy food and snacks and plan a RENT PARTY out of the little money they had so they can give all the earned money to a person who was struggling to pay rent and was probably going to continue to struggle since the person was not going to have any additional income after paying the rent for the current month and next month.

So again, what was the purpose of this rent party?

I figured the lady hit a rough patch and needed assistance just that one time. If not, it seems they'd have to have one every few months. I doubt they'd do as well the next time if Michael was singing again.
