It is with our deepest sadness that we report the passing of JOE SANTOS. Joe's son, Perry Santos messaged us that Joe passed away this morning at the age of 84. All of us here at TOJGFP express our sympathies to the entire Santos family. Joe was a first class guy, not to mention a great actor. He wore Becker like a second skin, slipping back into character flawlessly when he reunited with Jim in the series of ROCKFORD movies in the mid 1990's. The chemistry between Joe and Jim on ROCKFORD was a wonder to behold. I had the honor of spending two years on the Rockford set and watched that chemistry first hand. We will be posting a more extensive review of Joe's career later today. Please post your messages of condolences here and we will pass them on to the Santos family. In the meantime, here is our photo album tribute to our favorite cop and private investigator, Becker and Jimbo. So long pal...rest well. |

I am most familiar with Joe Santos from his appearance in the excellent debut episode titled "Running The Hill" of the short lived TV series David Cassidy, Man Undercover. That 1st episode of DCMU was the best one, episodes 2 and 3 were OK too, but after that the writing really started to tank. That's too bad because David Cassidy did a good job in his role as a young undercover cop. Anyhow, R.I.P. Mr. Santos.

I loved his Dennis Becker character! Rockford was always bugging him and asking for his assistance. Becker would get aggravated but they were really good friends. Joe really added to the fun and depth of the Rockford Files. I saw Joe on Match Game once. He was a really funny guy! May he rest in peace.
