the lieing room and kitchen looked thesame as they did on Family maters was that the same set?

No, it was not the same set, however, they were both Miller/Boyett production, so they very well could have filmed on the same lot. The two series overlapped production, with the Hogan Family running until 1991 and Family Matters beginning in 1989. They were two separate sets.
