USA's "Royal Pains" To End after 8 Seasons
"Royal Pains" Final Season Confirmed, Premiere Date Set
by Nellie Andreeva March 10, 2016 It has been no secret that USA’s long-running medical drama "Royal Pains" — the last of the network’s blue-skies procedural brand — was closing out its run with the upcoming eight-episode eighth season. The network has now made it official, setting a premiere date and releasing the first promo for the final chapter. The summer series, from creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski and executive producer Michael Rauch, will launch its eighth season on May 10, crossing its 100th episode this summer. The final season also will include a musical episode (somewhat of a USA tradition, fellow bubbly procedural "Psych" also did one), as well as an episode shot in Hong Kong. “It’s with great sadness, but even greater thankfulness, that we prepare for our final summer sunsets as Royal Pains comes to an end,” said Lenchewski and Rauch. “We want to thank Bonnie Hammer, Chris McCumber, Jeff Wachtel and every other member of our network and studio family for tirelessly supporting us over eight magical seasons, and more importantly, for giving us the opportunity to complete this series on our own terms. We’ll always have The Hamptons.” "Royal Pains", which stars Mark Feuerstein, has remained USA’s most popular series throughout its run. The most recent Season 7 of the Universal Cable Prods. series averaged respectable over 3 million total viewers in L7, and over one million in the key demos (1.03M P18-49; 1.24M P25-54). Feuerstein recently booked his followup series gig, a major role on the "Prison Break" event series. http://deadline.com/2016/03/royal-pa...ms-1201718104/ |
