Unsolved Mysteries ran the story of Ryan Heath and his sister Brianna Smith on 5/19/95. They were abducted by their mother Tyger Hoag and her husband Archie Hoag. It was believed that they were abducted because Tyger's oldest daughter Michelle Heath accused Archie of molesting her, and that they may have fled to Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
At time time of the broadcast, Tyger would have been 30 and Archie would have been 25. He had her name tattooed on his right wrist. Tyger also may have tinted red or orange in her blonde hair, and she was known to raise and sell Himalayan cats. She might use the name "Debra Anita Packard", "Debra Heath" and "Tyger Heath". Brianna Marie Smith was eight years old at the time of the broadcast and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Ryan Heath would have been thirteen at this time as well and is fond of baseball. It was also mentioned that the Hoags had a 3-year-old son who is in need of medical care for heart problems. I can't find anything about them anywhere other than a small mention on Unsolved Mysteries Wiki. |

I'm surprised that nobody commented on this. I can't find anything else on this case, and whether it was solved or not.

It was on the same episode as the Taos Hum, Jordan family arson/murders and Robert Arcieri. Might not have been aired on Lifetime after Stack's death.

I remember this segment because it was one of the few that did not include a recreation. Robert Stack introduced the story, but local reporters covering the kidnapping interviewed Brianna Smith's father, Tyger's daugher Michelle, Tyger's mother, and an investigator working on the case. It aired on Lifetime and was part of the episode featuring the Taos Hum and Robert Arcieri; however, I stopped seeing it around 1999-2000. It was edited out of the episode and replaced with the segment about the Jordan family murders. I recall seeing a missing persons bulletin on this case as part of America's Most Wanted: America Fights Back around the same time and there was a brief update that said the children were located in Germany. I've searched but I haven't been able to find anything confirming what I remember seeing on AMW. Given that Lifetime stopped airing the case, I'm inclined to believe it was solved.

I remember this case, and have seen no indication of an update anywhere.
They probably fled the country. |

I'll have to backtrack my previous comments, after just watching the case, I knew I had seen it before, I must have just gotten the names mixed up or something. And there is more to say:
I have no doubt Michelle Heath is telling the truth. She passed a lie detector test. What a sorry excuse for a human being Tyger Hoag is. She actually told her daughter that it didn't happen, and it if did, that it was her fault and she brought it on. How revolting! Even Tyger's own mother was sickened by that, and thankfully she was there for Michelle since Tyger was not. Archie is a creep as well. I hope they both got caught. I just hope Archie wasn't abusing his other children on the run. I believe only the youngest child was Archie's, the rest are children of Tyger's ex-husband. It is a case of parental abduction as Tyger was the mother to all of them, and I use the term mother loosely. |

I am Breanna Smith. The case was solved when I was 10. The FBI found us in Germany. I have not seen anything on the Web about us till now. If you find any news casts or the unsolved mysteries video please share with me thank you.

I have a segment on "Breanna Smith & Ryan Heath" in my collection, a Lifetime repeat.

Did they ever find Archie and Tyger and were they charged? Or are they still wanted?
