My last long time vacation with my family was in 1986 when I was 15 and we went west. We went through several states but to me the prettiest were New Mexico and Colorado. In fact in 2003 I was checking into Ph.D programs and checked into University of New Mexico and that was where I was hoping to go. As it turns out not long after I got my MA I received a job offer and gave up on getting a Ph.D so I never went.

I love New England! Massachusetts is my favorite from a historic standpoint.

Salem is so cool! And Cape Cod! Yes yes yes!

Actually, I had the most fun on one of my visits to New Jersey at Atlantic City. I loved the hotels, the casinos and the boat shaped mall at the boardwalk. I also saw Earth, Wind & Fire live in concert on that trip. It was definitely my favorite trip.

So my vote goes to Atlantic City, New Jersey!

I had many fun times in Jersey!!! Esp. summers at the Jersey shore as a child and teenager!!!

I don't travel much, but I do love Maryland.

I was there four years ago while on a trip to Washington D.C.. I hope to revisit that area someday.

I decided to go with Minnesota. We flew there, pretty much spur of the moment, in the dead of winter, for the wackiest of reasons, and ended up at a Minnesota North Stars hockey game, which is my favorite sport.

Besides Washington (which I visited with my then-fiance in 1995 and then we moved here in 1996), I'd say Oregon and Maine.

It's a toss-up between the mountains of North Carolina (Asheville & Maggie Valley area) & the Florida eastern coast (Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach area). Both states were pretty cool.
