Default Laser Pointers

Today, in choir, some kid had one and he was shining it on the TV when we were watching South Pacific. Well, our director got hysterical ans started screaming about how it's illegal to use one in a public place because it can be mistaken for a gun something-or-other. (Yea, so she says we can't go on our choir trip until someone puts the pointer on her desk, but thats not the point)

Has anyone heard of this before????????????????

Well, I dunno about where you live but it's certainly not illegal to use laser pointers in public here.
I hate those things! They're so pointless - why would anyone need one? I hate all those stupid kids that take laser pointers into the cinema and shine 'em on the screen all the way through the movie! That gets me so mad!

Default off-topic moment!

I know this is off-topic but I can't believe that smoking on the streets and in bars is illegal in some states! If they tried to pass a law like that here there'd be public outrage!!! There is actually an organisation here concerned with protecting the rights of smokers.

But, back on topic......yeah, laser pointers still suck.....

Wow thats crazy! Smokers have quite a few rights if you ask me... here they're allowed to puff smoke whereever they want to as long as smoking is allowed. So if I'm walking down the street basically any smoker has the right to blow smoke and nearly gag me to death. It's just ridiculous how smokers are killing so many of us non-smokers all because of their stupid habit! I cant wait until it's finally banned to smoke anywhere in public in Indiana.... it probably take a long time for that to happen though. I dont understand why anyone wants to smoke anyways. It's very gross, it makes you smell bad (Just one of two puffs on a cigarrette is enough to make a smokers clothes smell of smoke), and it's not healthy to the smoker and they're hurting everyone around them for their own pleasure. Smoking sucks. Tabacco is wacko.

I've heard laser pointers were illegal. I'm not sure, but I heard that they hurt the eyes or something like that.

Yeah... the big powerful ones can make you legally blind, or close to it.

I so agree! I don't think it should be allowed at public places or outside anywhere unless it's at their own house and they are not affecting anyone else. Everytime I go to Disneyland there are people smoking there... They are giving newborn babys and infants and even ME second hand smoke and I think it is totally screwed up.

I hate it when I see parents holding their infant children and just puffing away ciggarettes in their face. Poor kids.

I'm not really sure if laser pointers are illegal here are not. I heard that they were but I still see them being sold in stores.

Yea, here in Montrose, they put in a ban on smoking in ALL PUBLIC PLACES. No restaurants, no bars, no stores, just outside and in the home. I think it's a good step. And like 90% of the town agree w/ the ban.

Yea they sell 'em in gas stations and other stores here too. In one place, you have to be 18 to buy one. My director said they were only illegal in public places.

And I don't mean the laser tag game crap. I mean those lil tiny pointer things.
