TV "Friday Night Lights" 10-Year Reunion Event at ATX Festival 2016

"Friday Night Lights" 10-Year Reunion is Happening
by James Hibberd
2/5/16

Forget the Super Bowl, this is the bigger news: Dillion is having a high-school reunion. The cast and crew of NBC’s "Friday Night Lights" are staging a big party this summer at the most appropriate location ever – a Texas football field.

The FNL reunion comes 10 years after the show’s NBC premiere (and five years after the acclaimed drama ended) and includes a “Panther Field” meetup with a pep rally, live music, tailgating activities, and photo ops.

Participants will be announced at a later date. The event is a centerpiece of the 2016 Austin-based ATX Television Festival.

"Friday Night Lights" Cast Reunites to Mark 10th Anniversary of Series Debut
June 10, 2016
by Kate Stanhope

Less than 12 hours after CMT resurrected her country music drama for a new season, Connie Britton took the stage at the ATX Television Festival to greet adoring fans. But it wasn't "Nashville" that they wanted to talk about – it was her beloved role as Tami Taylor on "Friday Night Lights".

That was such a great character to play,” she told the crowd Friday night.

While her "Nashville" co-stars were celebrating the canceled show's last-minute revival with a concert in Tennessee, Britton joined her former FNL castmates in the Lone Star state to reminiscence about the football drama 10 years after it debuted on NBC.

Fittingly, the cast graced a stage at the now-retired Panther Field, where so many of the show's famous game time moments were filmed. Although no longer used, old lockers and other props from the show were on display for fans Friday night as part of a tailgate and pep rally reunion for the acclaimed series.

Although Britton's TV husband from FNL, Kyle Chandler, was missing, many of her other costars came out to the event, including Gaius Charles, Scott Porter, Adrianne Palicki, Matt Lauria, Brad Leland, and many others. Executive producer Jason Katims was also in attendance.

Jesse Plemons pulled double duty at the event, performing with his fictitious Crucifictorious bandmates. At one point, the group was joined by tambourine player, Grandma Saracen, aka Louanne Stephens, who received thunderous cheers from the crowd early on in the five-hour event, which included multiple local bands, local food trucks and a screening of fan-favorite episode, 'The Son'.

Plemons also recalled going the extra mile during filming, particularly when he tore his ACL on Panther Field during a friendly game, causing production to put the kibosh on any more extracurricular games until after filming had wrapped on the series.
