Sir Terry Wogan, radio broadcaster, interviewer and television personality, has died of cancer at his Buckinghamshire home aged 77. From realtively humble beginnings in the Irish Republic he became a national institution in the United Kingdom with his Radio 2 breakfast show, which regularly attracted listening figures of 8 million. He also commentated on the Eurovision Song Contest for decades, compulsive viewing for many.
