Eek $168.81 Electricity Bill

My electricity bill jumped by $54.94 from last month. I opened up y bill and it's $168.81. Geez. I just keeps going up, yet I'm being even more careful about how much electricity I use. In the winter I use the heater and in the summer I use the air conditioner. Texas has unpredictable weather. One day it can be hot and the next day it can be cold.

Is it just me, or does $168.81 seem high for a light bill? I have central air.

Well, it was the Christmas season. Did you have a lot of Christmas lights going? Our bill is always a lot higher in December. Our electric /gas bill was $245.00. The next bill should be a lot lower I hope!

I had a Christmas tree (fake one), but I didn't have it on much as the lights made it too tempting for my cat Romeo. He already thought it was a scratching post for his back and something to play with. I really hope next month my bill is lower. I hope it's not higher. In the last four months it has gone up each moth. It's more than double in price since September.

That seems high esp. for this time of year!!! Ours doesn't get that high even in the summer months with the air conditioner going a lot of the time! I don't know how big your house is though. Ours is really small and we don't have central air conditioning Just one room window air conditioner and ceiling fans ! But for winter time, 168 seems high, and you were saying you didn't have major Christmas lights going on or anything! Seems too high!!

Thanks. I don't like that it's higher, but I just wrote a check and will mail it off tomorrow. If I pay by phone (automated system) there is a $2.95 convenience fee. I figure the light company is already getting enough of my money.

Time to get solar panels! But seriously if you do the math, it can be worth it, especially as tech advances and makes things more efficient.
